BAKALAKI Greek Taverna

It was my first time booking through quandoo and also a first eating at balalaika. It really easy to make a reservation through the website. The service was really impressive with very attentive servers. The atmosphere was really nice and the place was nicely furnished. Food was amazing. I loved the lamb chops (really good potatoes on the side) and the beef meatballs were so juicy and well-seasoned. The Greek yogurt was a nice refreshing end to the meal. Prices were on the pricier side but well justified by everything. It was my first time eating Greek food and definitely not my last. :)

We came here to celebrate a birthday of a family member. We were promptly shown our table and were waited upon impeccably throughout our meal. The variety, quality and portion size of the dishes on the menu were all excellent. We got a few appetizers and some main courses. We were pleasantly surprised by a chocolate dessert with a candle brought to the table and lit for the birthday girl, complimentary. A truly memorable celebration. A huge shout out to Antonis who runs a wonderful joint. And of course to our waiter who really made our evening special. Thank you.

Well exceeded expectations! Had a fantastic dinner at Bakalaki. Service and food were both outstanding and the ambience was the standout with a full and buzzing restaurant on what we thought would be a quiet mid week night over the festive season. The manager helped recommend a great red wine which was cheaper than our initial thinking and great feedback regarding our ordering and ensuring we did not have too much food for the table. The grilled octopus and lamb were musts. The only negative was dessert with ice cream coming in Haagen Daz containers and while this was made clear to us before ordering was a bit disappointing the restaurant didn’t have a more customised approach. Overall a fantastic experience and we’ll definitely be back!

Loved our dinner here. Everything was great. Staff was super attentive. Service and food and ambience were all faultless. We accidentally spilled a while bottle of olive oil. They were really helpful to offer help to clean up.

Brilliant food . S.H 1 tee service. We have eaten here many times as a couple, and loved it. 11 people (our family from UK and Africa) and special occasion being together. Disappointing service, orders taking more than 30 minutes or not coming at all!

I had a great server who was attentive. The only issue was the leaking air con above my head. The server informed me it was an issue. Perhaps the restaurant can re-arrange the table sonthe guest doesn’t get dripped on.

Lovely authentic restaurant in the the amazing Tiong Bahru area. Our food was delicious & well presented & the staff were Welcoming and mostly attentive. What stopped me from rating Bakalaki higher was my pet hate that we were leisurely working through our delicious Meze and our mains arrived. We felt rushed & under pressure to start our mains. It is a common fault with a lot of places and it would be so easy for the Waiting Staff to ask & then extend a break between courses. Especially as we then sat there for another couple of hours chatting! If you could fix that then 10/10 for everything! Thanks Bakalaki for a lovely evening.

Made reservation at 6pm. Was already half full when i reached. Excellent service. Awesome food. Very good vibes. Was a pleasant experience. Portions can be big and its good for groups. Looking forward to my next trip. Only concern could be the attitude of some staff. They were not very friendly and they looked not so forthcoming. Only some portayed that manner. True greek dining experience should be very service- oriented and not having to see sulky expressions. Made us feel bit awkward.

Great staff. Impeccable service. Wonderful interiors. Food could be improved. We went with too high expectations after reading reviews. We have had some really great Greek food elsewhere (outside Singapore but within South East Asia) so on those benchmarks the food was average.

Food, ambience and service all great! Really needs a bar though! We were there for drinks at 8pm but sadly had to give the business to another bar down the road and then came back for dinner at 9pm. Will definitely be back even if we cannot have a drink before dinner!

Fantastic food, felt like I was back in Greece. Only thing I would note that at points it was very hard to talk over the table as the music was quiet loud. Overall though we had a lovely time.
