My husband and myself visited Tono Cevicheria while staying in Singapore for a week in September. From the moment we arrived it was just magic. The food, service and ambience all comes together as an easy going and the same time a really high quality, an excellent experience. Tono cevicheria delivers the most delicious ceviches ( the best i`ve ever had ) logo saltado ( with a sauce to die for ) and desserts ( i still look at the picture and remember ..). It`s a beautiful Peruvian cuisine experience with a modern touch. Just so refreshing!!! We were more than impressed. I LOOOOOVEEE Tono Cevicheria and wish i lived much much closer. Highly recommended.
We had a lovely evening here. The ambience is lively and still cosy when sitting inside and the food was simply delicious. We (2 ladies) were suggested to order 2 starters and 1 main to share. However, next time, I think 2 starters are enough for us as the portion is quite generous and also filling. We had the Tono Ceviche which was a delight. The Causa Lima with the soft shell crab was a bit of a let down after the wonderful ceviche. I think next time we will order 2 ceviches instead. We had the Plancha de Mariscos for main. I was getting quite full after the 2 starters so didn’t enjoy the main as much. It was tasty but nothing to shout out about. We wrapped up our meal with the butter Cookies and they were light and refreshing. The service was attentive and helpful. We would definitely return for the ceviche!
Front of house staff need to better trained to assist new guests who arrive, especially those with a reservation. To achieve this, owner/manager should consider shifting the current main entrance to the other door, and have the tablet with the reservation list stationed at that entrance. Arriving at a door that is next to the Kitchen Pass is odd, and guests have no where to wait while the wait staff runs off to find the reservation list. Order of food served was wrong. Starter came 3rd amongst the 4 dishes we ordered. And wait-time between each dish was about 15-20 minutes. If guests are ordering small tapas plates for sharing, then each tapas dish shouldn't arrive close to when the first tapas dish is almost finished. The food is quite delicious. If the service and kitchen staff up'ed their game, I think Tono Cevicheria could offer a superb dining experience.
the food is fantastic and service rendered was timely. some points to note: 1. the first waiter asked if we would like still/sparkling. we gave our reply but was asked shortly by the 2nd guy whom we told that the ordered was given. the 2nd guy didn’t explain that the first guy couldn’t remember 2 still & 2 sparkling. why so? if he has got other orders and cannot remember, just pace it out a little. 2. we finished our food. one of the guy came to us with a bill and flower and we told him it wasn’t ours, because we haven’t asked it at all. it’s ok, despite the fact the it did make us feel a lil unwelcomed. 3. when we eventually asked for the bill, the guy came promptly. i’m not sure if we were supposed to ask if a flower came for all mothers, or that my mom didn’t look old enough or because he took my initial redirection of bill & flower as a sign of no flower required. we weren’t given any. maybe you can help clarify this point. once again, great food & prompt service. just unsure of the quality of service. Maybe we were deemed too cheapskate that resulted in the above points as we didn’t ordered a lot.
Scallop ceviche with sweet potato mash was tasty but tiny. Pork belly with gooseberry sauce was very good, interesting flavour combination and succulent, but could be cut into slightly smaller pieces. Seafood platter was also excellent, done just right. Service staff were knowledgeable and helpful, and the manager also stopped by to help with an issue we had. We had to top it off with a dessert, soursop gelato which was also done well with lots of interesting flavour combinations like vanilla and passion fruit. Expensive but top notch. Thank you again to the manager and his team, and compliments to the chef.
We loved the food and the atmosphere in the restaurant. The seating inside was small, but that was nice. The service was great. But they were a bit too eager to clear out the table, even interrupting conversations just to do so. That part wasn't great. Overall we had a great experience. If they could just be mindful about when to approach customers to clear out the table, that would be better.
