Wonderful dinner. Good food and friendly staff. Went for the tasting menu, and while almost everything was good, a couple of items were amazing! These included a fried shrimp with banana chilies.

The food was a nice modern twist to traditional Peranakan food. I liked the tiger prawns and the beef in buah keluak stock. And the Buah Keluak ice cream was brilliant!

Lovely restaurant with great food and good value for money. There is enough creativity to the dishes but comfort and nourishing dinner. Portions are a good size and the ambience is nice.

We had excellent food, and an excellent time for dinner. The staff was attentive but not over-present, which is the way it should be. We will come back for more.

Service again could be improved. Staff seemed awkward and lacked basic restaurant service manners. No cold glass for beer and introduction of dishes by looking at the menu. Food was delicious.

Fantastic meal. got to try different dishes in the set dinner menu, dishes which we ordinarily would not have ordered. But as it was a set menu we got to taste a fantastic range of dishes. Simply superb.

Great service provided with prompt response of clearing of plates, supplying of cutleries and refilling of rice and/or stilled water when needed. Awesome ambience where you can enjoy the delicious Peranakan food and have a great catch-up with friends or bonding time with family. A couple who is celebrating the partner's birthday had a surprise with one service crew singing birthday song for her. Overall experience was awesome and do be aware of the constant changing menu to keep you surprised.!

Food was good, peranakan with a modern edge. Service was a little slow, some were better than others at explaining the dishes, but they were very accommodating with my dad's birthday cake.

Great food. Satay, beef rendang, crab curry were all very nice. Portions aren't very big so if you're not a small eater then may have to order more dishes

Excellent meal prepared with great knowledge of Peranikan flavours & authentic ingredients. Only the grilled tiger prawns disappointed being dry and tough, not unusual. Beautiful desserts. Knowledgable and friendly staff. We will be back.

excellent restaurant. You learn a culture from its foodwork and food products. In this restaurant you can learn both. Next time I will try their creative dish for dinner.

Nice settings, food was good but nothing fantastic. Went there to celebrate birthday for boyfriend, they prepared candles and complimentary dessert for us. It was nice. But something they can improve on is they don't serve plain water, you have to purchase bottled mineral water, which I found is a bit weird in a fine dining place.

Liked the modern take on Peranakan food, esp the crab cake, lamb satay, beef ball and lodeh. Durian dessert was fantastic end to the meal, rounded up by attentive service.

Excellent food and good, efficient, service from this restaurant. The dinner, although a fixed menu with only choice for dessert, was very good, with a selection of varied dishes. We will return.

Great cuisine but for Me a little too spice, food is delicious. Service is quite good but can be improved; real napkins not paper for example and finally open times a little more elastic... It should close at 11

Great food, attentive service, convenient location. The best Peranakan restaurant in Singapore in my opinion. Location is accessible for train station 2 mins walk away. They will however be moving to Dempsey in June/July which makes it more easily accessible by car.

Great food and warm service. Definitely will go back again. Didn't really like the idea that they didn't serve tap water, which I don't mind paying for. Just that bottled water is not environmentally friendly...

Just felt the food was over price. Should be price within $30-35 per pax. Since the concept is fine dining, the Cutlery should be more presentable. Not mismatch pieces .

Had set tasting menu only for dinner which was not too bad. Good yummy food & nice place but staff was a bit lacking. Not quite good service. Will be though, want to try their ala carte for lunch maybe.

I've been a fan of Candlenut for a long time, and this lunch was the same -- I hosted a group of visitors (from US and UK) here, and they loved the food. They did find the "choking" squid tasty but a little too spicy, which to me was a good thing since it speaks to the authenticity of the cooking!

Peranakan cuisine was a new experience for us and we highly recommend this restaurant. Our waiter, Felix, and other staff members were so friendly and most helpful in explaining not only the cuisine but also the culture. The small plates were the perfect way to sample this interesting cuisine and everything was superb.

Our second visit at this Peranakan restaurant. I have to admit the choices of our earlier set dinner menu worked better than the second. It is the luck of the draw what is offered for the evening.

This is a fantastic restaurant providing a tasting menu of Nonya cuisine. It provided one of the best dining experiences we have had anywhere in the world. Yes a big call but one we are making. Chef Malcolm Lee has a beautiful skill of balancing flavours as he presents modern takes on what appears to be the traditional cooking of his childhood. At $60 (plus the dreaded Singaporean added taxes) this is also exceptional value. Our set menu comprised 4 small entrees, 6 more substantial mains and one desert from a choice of 5. Just outstanding. Go there!
