Known for their pizzas, the chefs at Sopra Italian Restaurant on Claymore Road in Singapore’s Orchard are obsessed with quality. From the fresh herbs to the flour in the dough, each ingredient is hand-selected and researched before going into any of Sopra’s dishes. The interior of the restaurant is beautiful and refined, with a bar, a library, main room and an al fresco dining area. Sopra even has private rooms that seat up to 18 guests, and the entire restaurant is also available for company functions and big events. Sopra’s drink specials are incredible – stop by for Happy Hour all night long on Monday and all day until 8pm from Tuesday to Sunday!
As authentic as they come, the dishes at Singapore’s Sopra are hearty and flavourful. Begin with the polpo alla carlofortina, a tasty salad made with slow cooked fresh octopus, celery, pine nuts, basil, olives and house dressing, or go for the classic caprese salad (always a pleaser!). Then, you’ll need to make a hard decision – pizza or pasta? Classic pizzas like the stagioni topped with mozzarella, ham, black olives, mushrooms and artichokes always make for a good choice, but the pastas are impressive, too – try the spaghetti aglio olio, a simple dish that packs in a ton of flavour. Be sure to finish up with one of Sopra’s amazing cannolis or a slice of homemade tiramisu. Reservations are a must at this Italian restaurant along the Orchard Road strip!
