What could be better after a day spent at the museum than a meal of pan-fried foie gras or seared Atlantic scallops? Probably nothing, and the good news is that you can enjoy gourmet dishes like these among many others at Flutes, a restaurant and bar conveniently located inside the National Museum of Singapore. Featuring a terrace with outdoor seating as well as plenty of indoor dining space, Flutes provides a calm location to relax along busy Stamford Road near the Museum district and Singapore’s City Hall. Originally opened in a different location in 2004, Flutes has found a lasting home in Singapore’s oldest national museum.
Flutes offers a variety of options throughout the day, our favourite being the afternoon tea. Enjoy savoury options like duck rillette with mustard fruit chutney, caramelised onion quiche or mini prawn cocktail. Sample some of Singapore’s finest teas alongside sweets such as chocolate mousse tartlets and mini Victorian sponge cakes. Come by the restaurant for dinner and indulge in a number of European and international options: pear barley and mushroom risotto, grain-fed lamb cutlet, duck breast and beef tenderloin, just to name a few. End your meal with a slice of the decadent lavender cheesecake and take a bite out of the sweet life. Reserve a table and enjoy a gourmet meal at Flutes, best accessed from Singapore’s City Hall or Dhoby Ghaut stations.
