At Singapore’s Dapur Melaka you’ll find curious Peranakan cuisine. Peranakan, by definition, is the term coined when two very diverse sets of customs and traditions came together in the late 15th Century – Chinese immigrants and Malay Muslim ladies. As a result, Peranakan cuisine was born and you’ll find no finer example of than here at Dapur Melaka in Sembawang. On Sembawang Road, the food at this restaurant is delicious, wonderfully authentic, and damn spicy.

The menu at Dapur Melaka goes big on crab, fish and chicken, yet it’s truly varied and exciting. Some Peranakan highlights for us include the lemak nanas crab with a pineapple gravy, as well as the buah sukun kari chicken, a juicy and traditional breadfruit curry. Although in Sembawang and a little way out from the bustle, Singapore loves Dapur Melaka so do reserve a table in advance.

The simple interior of Dapur surprised me but the delicious food excited my tongue palette even more. And it was very affordable too. Will definitely be back for more.

Homecooked Peranakan Food. Simple setting and good for family / friends gathering. Will visit again as I missed the Ayam Buah Keluak and Crabs dishes.

Food were not very authentic and overpriced.. many food were sold out the time I reached (2pm) Many tables were not cleared when i was there even though there were not many customers. plates were left on the table for about an hour. However, staff there were polite.

Was a small shop with 1 cook and service staffs. Food was generally acceptable. Order duck soup but the duck meat too hard. Samba prawn is ok.
