Sick of Singapore’s half-baked wine bar concepts? Gagging on cookie-cutter tapas-y, share-plate-like scraps culled from better establishments’ compost heaps? Forget the rest, go the whole hog and reserve a complete oenological and gastronomic experience with 13% Gastro Wine. For sommelier Bruno Vaillant and award-winning chef Geoffrey Weckx, who can tot up a grand total of a quarter-century or more in the bar and restaurant business, the glass is always more than half full, but that means there’s always room for their entrepreneurial spirit and cuisine-mad passion to grow and keep them going the whole nine yards. Find their often completely full wine bar in a classic Kampong Glam heritage shophouse along Aliwal Street, closest to Bugis MRT, for fulsome comfort food, cheese platters and other dividable portions of European delight plus, naturally, an incredibly well-considered selection of fine wines.
Second time to eat there in two weeks. Food, wine, ambience and service all very good. Brought a guest from Japan there this time and he loved it, especially the wagyu beef.
Third visit and this time with 9 friends and family along. They all loved the food, wines and service. Cozy hangout, and we will most certainly be returning.
Excellent experience at the wine place. It has a very cosy ambiance and many nice people and I would recommend the place to many of my friends.
