Make no mistake, the food at Singapore’s I Am Cafe is resolutely of the comfort food variety, combing great bar classics like burgers and sandwiches, with pizzas and snack plates. I am... began, as so many stories do, with a business trip. Muhamad Jamuri Bin Busori (better known to his I am... devotees as Jam Ignite) followed his wife on a business trip to Amsterdam and was struck by the atmosphere in the city and Dutch culture. More than anything though, he was struck by the Dutch attitude to comfort food. Determined to bring the country’s love of chips and mayo to Singapore, Jam Ignite set up shop on the North Bridge Road (just off Haji Lane) to allow Singaporeans to discover the flavours of Amsterdam.
The food of the Dutch people is famously fuss-free (it's pretty tough to maintain airs and graces when you’ve got a chin slick with chip grease and a ketchup splodge on your shirt) and that’s reflected on the menu at I am ... . The order of the day at this North Bridge Road classic is comforting food done right. So if you’re looking for burgers, pizzas, and of course chips, you’re in the right place. Jam Ignite has lit a fire under Singapore’s dining scene with his unique take on Dutch classics, and has been rewarded by a legion of loyal fans (who really dig his chips)!
