The Scholar Chinese Restaurant

The food and service was good. They are pushy about reservations even when there are available tables and occasionally will put small groups at larger tables with other people even if there are available smaller tables. But other than that, the restaurant is fine if you know what you want and you make reservations in advance.

It was ok, not bad. No need to wait for too long.

The last time that I've visited is about 2 years ago, and I felt that the food isn't as great as it used to be. Back then I had felt it was one of the best Chinese cuisine restaurant in Singapore , but now it is average. Still a great value for money restaurant, with nice service staff and a "quiet" enough Chinese cuisine restaurant. Kitchen is a little too slow for my liking, dishes in my opinion that should be quick to served e.g. soup, dim sum, roasted pork, took a long time to be served, nothing short of 30 minutes, and it came out a dish at a time. I sincerely hopes that the restaurant improves, it used to serve really good roasted meats.

I always enjoy their food and service (Coffee pork rib and Peking duck are my favorites)

Had 2 crabs, chilli and black pepper. The chilli crab was not very fresh.

Service crew were responsive and polite. Had dim sum but the list of items was basic and limited. Don't expect exquisite or unique dim sum dishes. Taste and quality were good though.

Food was great and the service was excellent. The waitress who took our order realised that we had over-ordered. Without our knowing, she held the order of one of the dishes. When most of the dishes were served, she came to check with us if we still wanted the last dish which was the coffee pork ribs. By then we were all stuffed! We thanked her for her thoughtfulness and cancelled the dish. Such great service!!! We were impressed!

my parents found the fried kailan with pork slices too salty and the roast chicken a tad salty too..they liked the fish maw thick soup

Other then a wrong pre order everything else was good. Wish the restaurant could tell me that Sea bass pre order is not required.

Ordered peking duck, vegetarian veg small. Turns out to be really small portion, steam fish, coffee ribs and seafood tofu. Food satisfactory and service attentive. Price reasonable

Staff are very helpful and very friendly, the food is good.

Every dish was executed very well. Special mention for the Peking Duck, abalone with vegetables and fried patin fish in Thai sauce.
