One of the original steamboat operators in Singapore is Mini Steamboat Delight, who’ve been steaming up a storm along Tanjong Katong Road for thirty years. The concept behind steamboat is simple. A hot pot of variously flavoured broth is kept simmering in the center of diners’ tables, to which various ingredients are added and cooked according to taste. Thin slices of meat and chunks of seafood, vegetables and mushrooms, wontons and dumplings, are common delicacies subjected to the steamboat treatment. At Mini Steamboat Delight down Tanjong Katong Road, the tradition is upheld. Many fans of this Singapore steamboat veteran say, however, that it’s Mini Steamboat Delight’s homemade red sauce that does it for then, not to mention the friendly atmosphere of this cosy venue, which promises to keep diners happy for years to come.
