Dempsey’s Open Farm Community is truly unique. Of course on one hand it’s among the city’s finest contemporary restaurants, with incredible brunch, cafe, kids, dinner, dessert and bar menus showcasing broad international influence, meticulous attention to detail and the high-wire skill of super chef Ryan Clift, who has worked with the likes of Marco Pierre-White, Peter Gordon and Raymond Capaldi and picked up more awards in Australia and Singapore than you could count. On the other hand, however, Open Farm Community is just that, a rare connection in this super-city between people and nature through food, with 35,000 square feet of green space off Minden Road, a fantastic curated farmers market and a dedicated emphasis on quality seasonal produce that goes beyond pleasing the palate to reminding us, even in Singapore, of our vital, indelible link to nature.

Codifying it into words on a screen can never do justice to the incredible international contemporary food offered at Open Farm Community, and it’s something that has to be experienced rather than described. Still, even then things like watercress soup with soft poached hen’s egg, crispy kale and olive oil caviar, or crispy Jurong frog legs, beetroot fregola pasta and sour sheep cheese still sound pretty darn good as words on a screen. This magnificent venue on Minden Road at the base of Dempsey Hill is spacious and relaxing, but it is incredibly popular so bookings are always essential, and always well worth it.
