Savour the true flavours of Japan, right here in Singapore at Kyoaji Dining, tucked away on the fourth storey of The Centrepoint in Orchard. Executive Chef John Phua helms the kitchen here, dishing out outstandingly innovative creations from his omakase menu, designed to showcase his versatility in working with a broad array of fresh and seasonal ingredients. Enhance your experience by asking about the best recommendations in Japanese beers and liquors to pair each dish with, but above all else, don’t forget to make a reservation at this Orchard Road restaurant as seats tend to fill up fast.
It’s not every day that we get to sample authentic Japanese cuisine in Singapore but when we do allow ourselves that treat, it’s gotta be something worth remembering. Over in Orchard, you can count on Kyoaji Dining to deliver the goods, especially in its innovative omakase menu, where you leave it up to Executive Chef John Phua to decide what should end up on your table that day. Although the courses may vary, the creative flair executed across every dish remains consistent, as is the use of fresh and seasonal oceanic catch imported directly from Japan.
Nevertheless, a la carte options at Kyoaji Dining remain every bit as enjoyable, and a popular choice for lunch is none other than the gyu niku shogayaki gozen, or beef with ginger sauce bento set. Seafood fans will love the sashimi moriawase (assorted raw fish platter), while the surume ika teriyaki (grilled cuttlefish with teriyaki sauce) will please those with an affinity for the slightly charred taste of grilled delights. Don’t skip out on the selection of premium Japanese liquors for a more palatable dining experience – simply ask your waiter for a recommendation if you need one. Kyoaji Dining’s excellent location on Orchard Road puts it within easy reach from all corners of Singapore, so should you ever find yourself craving a first-rate Japanese meal in the heart of Orchard, you know where to go. Just remember to book ahead to avoid disappointment.
2nd visit and we tried the dinner set menu. The beef set was good. The caterpillar maki was awesome as well.
My friends and me absoutely loves this place, the ambience and the staff are friendly. And the food is of good quality. Fish so fresh and presentation beautiful.
A nice and convenient place for friends gathering. And the most important things are the foods so delicious and yummy. My friends and I enjoyed it very much.
I felt that the pricing was quite high. Well, you pay for what you eat. Quiet ambiance. Tasty and filling. Worth going if you can afford. I will if I can.
Overall, convenient location, service was decent, ambiance is decent. I ordered a salmon sushi roll, eggplant seafood, grill beef with Foie Gras sauce, and garlic rice. The beef and garlic rice were good. Sushi roll was mediocre. Eggplant seafood was supposed to be good, but my eggplant tasted bitter. We feedback to the waitress serving us, she said "Oh weird, it shouldn't taste bitter, maybe its abit old" and then walked away. hahaha solid response. Overall food is good, service is okay but not excellent.
A rather cosy mid-price dining place with unpretentious decor. We had the tempura/grilled salmon set lunch and the gyu don (with onsen egg). Both were oishii and would be good choices in case you don't do raw fish. Stangely, service is rather impersonal at Kyoaji - not even a simple smile to greet diners. Nor a warm cup of green tea to get you comfy while you ponder the menu choices. Just that robotic "irashaiimase" welcome shout-out; nothing else to thank or bid good day to customers. Very atypical of Japanese restaurant service! We'd rather patronise other Jap eateries which also serve yummy food and treat diners respectably, any time.
Food was great & awesome value for money! We had the mixed sashimi platter for 3 & fish was very fresh! Celebrated my birthday day & lady boss was so kind to put a candle on my ice cream sandwich & even helped us to split it so that we could all try! Highly recommended!
always head down for their kani tofu with the century egg sauce. found another new dish to go for, the cold fish noodles! Food has always be great and consistent. Good and attentive service crew with a smile always. kudos to Kyoaji!
Food is nice, but restaurant space is rather small, or it was just our luck, the table behind were a group of Chinese, and the Chinese lady talk very loud...I think everyone could hear her converssation!! Anyway i like the quality of food, the maki with 3 kind of fishes were fantatic !! I will be back again!
Food quality is good but pricey even after the promotions. There are other omakase that is of better value and same quality. 1) Lobster is perfectly cooked. The dinner sets are of better value compared to the omakase.Ambience is good only at the counter table or else place can be quite noisy if you are sitted behind
