Chinese Si Xi Restaurant ticks a lot of boxes for what you may be looking for when it comes to a satisfying feed in Singapore’s Chinatown – it’s small, it’s clean, it’s cosy, it’s affordable, and it’s properly authentic. The menu at Chinese Si Xi is almost bigger than their cute venue on New Bridge Road, stretching from dainty dumplings to decadent desserts, simple stir-fried greens to rich, steamy bowls of spicy broth. Whatever your personal preferences and however fussy your company you will not be at a loss for options here, though we can particularly recommend Chinese Si Xi’s impressive whole steamed fish, laden with chopped vegetables, sesame and spices and semi-submerged in velvety chilli oil. The small space is part of Chinese Si Xi’s charm, but it does mean it can fill up quickly (especially around lunchtimes) so advance bookings are strongly recommended.
