Ordered famous beggar chicken. Nice presentation but portion is small. Peking duck is also much smaller compared to other restaurants. Service is not fast and people serving tea just spoke to us in Chinese. Quite high priced for regular dishes.
The overall atmosphere is excellent, fusing traditional Chinese architecture style with modern decor. The dimsum are super tasty and well plated. My family loved the Beggar Chicken dish where my parents were invited to break the mould that covers the chicken. Overall, it is on the pricey side but it's worth the money.
First time there and trying out Chinese fusion food. Ordered the indulgence set meal, portion was right, food was great. Atmosphere was really nice, not crowded at all. Only bad thing is there were two entrance so I had to walk a round to the other entrance as they were having event and it was drizzling.
Had a good time. The truffle sauce with the Peking duck was unique and very tasty. Portions a little small though. Liked the live music as well.
Had the Tasting menu and added a half Signature duck and Beggar Chicken, both of which are really good. Loved the texture of Nepalese Rock rice which comes with the chicken. Ended to be too much food as we had no room for the Spring Onion noodles. Overall presentation was lovely and quality of food was good. Only the appetizer with Belly pork and Kurobuta char Siew was disappointing , have better elsewhere. Pricey but a great place to entertain as its not crowded and has a luxe feel.
Way overrated and overpriced. Ordered 2 porridge and both had an extremely fishy taste, even the century egg pork porridge! Feedback to waitress and all she did was apologise and offer to replace me with another porridge which I declined of course! Thereafter nothing else was done, i asked to feedback to manager and she said she already told manager about it but up to the moment we left the restaurant, not once did the manager come over to offer any apology. I would expect a restaurant that charges such premium pricing to be offering service level that matches too but it's really a total disappointment. Will not return for sure.
Nice ambience with decent food. Love the food presentation too and their staffs are all very friendly too. However, food was being served a bit on a fast pace.
Service was excellent. Food was pretty good except for the plain vegetables which was way too salty. The Shark Cartilage soup was the best. The Peking duck is a little over-rated and not to par with other Cantonese restaurants. The beggar's chicken was innovative and good fun but of cos the taste is nothing to shout about... Also a bit on the pricey side. Chinese tea cost $8++ per pax.
Food was good and service was excellent! Brought parents to a contemporary Chinese restaurant and they liked it. Food portion is a bit small but we are relatively small eaters.
Ambience was great. Food was prepared in great detail. Dishes were flavourful. Dedicated service and gave good recommendations. The dim sums are valued for money. Will patronise again.
My third visit to the restaurantm The food is good and the ambience is perfect. However, there was birthday party going on downstairs and the constant singing of happy birthday and ruckus from the party coming from the bar downstairs was deafening. It negated all the good food and ambience downstairs. I think management must do something about the potential noise from downstairs from killing the ambience and mood upstairs or it is going to lose a lot of its customers. There are many other restaurants around serving good and better food but without the noise disturbance. Am going to give this place a miss from now on unless they do something about the noise pollution from downstairs.
Service is delightful. Lovely presentation and pleasant ambience. Great at the frills. Unfortunately, if food were the consideration, they need to pull up their socks.
Great ambience and fast and prompt service! Some of the dishes were a little towards the salty side but nevertheless, most of the dishes were delectable!
Atmosphere is good , but some of the dishes is a little too salty for our liking... However, this may be a nice place for a drink to chill out...
The decorations are cool and ambience was fantastic. Food quality was very good... the roast pork was extremely delicious. However I still prefer the traditional peking duck to their signature VLV Peking duck.
After dining there a few times, I must say THIS particular experience just BREAK it. I will NOT step into VLV again... (unless absolutely necessary). The Manager on duty, the bold head Chinese man with spectacle, just ruined our experience and our mood. Been there for lunch 3 times and the brunch twice... it was pretty quiet that Sunday when we were there, no sign of overbooking ... but the manager was giving my bro and me a terrible reaction when we requested for more alcohol. He was rude, undermining and not appreciative of our business . Basically, discriminating ! And def not polite ... as though we 'owe' him and begging for another pour of our free glow alcohol. Untactful and undeserving Always believe the waiters and managers make or break a restaurant reputation. VLV as a nice restaurant with decent food, it is unfortunate that they employ such untactful idiots as their manager who score so low in Customer's satisfaction
The food was great and service was beyond a doubt Excellent. Suitable for friends and families to hang out together for good food and drinks.
Nice ambience and great food. Good for gatherings. Beggar chicken is a must try, is really good. Had roast pork as an appetizer, it was good! As for dessert, compared to the recommended oh nee, I prefer the all time fav mango pomelo.
Romantic and posh restaurant at 2nd level. Food served are delicious but smaller portion. Beggar chicken without doubt is one of the best main dish. Will try their dimsum lunch buffet one day.
Friendly & responsive staff Good Ambience to celebrate special occasion. We liked the beggar chicken and crab meat bun. Char Siew noodle was good as well Will visit again.
Restaurant nicely decorated not the normal Chinese restaurant decoration more fushion.. waitress friendly and fast.. food not too bad and price wise not too expensive..
Food was really good as always, love the different takes on traditional food, but service has always been a little lacking - not that they were no good, just not enough attention or a tad slow, maybe from being understaffed
The service staff made the effort to accommodate to my change of menu request and was prompt to reply to my answer. Food was good with good overall service
Very tasty pork belly and earthen pot chicken! Friendly & approachable staff! Will definitely visit the restaurant again! Very romantic setting for a Chinese restaurant!
Nice ambience, excellent service . Tea was always refilled promptly , plates changed regularly. Food was decent size and tasted good. Price was above average and I will come back only if there are promotions
awesome! But would be good for Quandoo to list out if there's items that can be pre-ordered. For example the "beggar chicken" can't be ordered there, but has to be pre-ordered. I didn't know until I tried ordering.
The environment is too dim. Since the dishes are so exclusive, I think the served personnel who is attending to the table should explain more about the dishes. So far only one waiter attend to my table explain well, the rest was not. Hope VLV can improve this aspect. If possible can explain in both English and Mandarin would be good.
Waitress all looks so serious. Rating is for the food, consistency on the food on my 2nd visit. 1st visit the staff are very friendly, second visit only one is friendly but somehow different from 1st visit..
We had the s$68++ brunch buffet which was a good way to sample their menu. Some dishes were hits while some were misses. Hits: Pork belly, pig trotter with vinegar, egg puffs, boat style congee, all vegetable dishes, siew mai, duck, beef hor fun, fried radish cake. Misses: the soups, prawn dumpling, soft shell crab, steamed rice roll, curry fish ball were just too average and did not stand out. Overall good first time experience.
Had a la carte dim sum lunch with 6 people. Service was attentive. Good quality dim sum but no dishes really stood out compared to other restaurants. Beggar chicken was very tasty. Overall, good food but overpriced.
Nice food, good service and great ambiance. My guests and I had a great time at this restaurant. Some of the dishes are truly unique. For first time diners, I strongly suggest you take the recommendations from the captain. We will definitely return.
Great ambience & service. Interesting menu, managed to get 'beggar's chicken' without advance order! Delicious - must try! Hence, highlight to guest during reservation. Overall experience - sumptuous and pleasant! Keep it up!
Very Good food. Very reasonable price. We paid about $100 per pax for a 8 course dinner including Peking duck and Beggars chicken. Highly recommended.
Good atmosphere. Price is reasonable. Friendly staff. Recommended. Good place for romantic dinner or for small groups. After dinner still can enjoy drinks and music at the downstairs open air lounge.
Staff was attentive, food was good. However, my pre-orders - Beggar Chicken on Quandoo wasn't noted and was sold out during my visit and that affected the overall experience slightly.
They did not give me the WoW factor, couldn't find the justification for the gold award. Put it ordinary and the signature Beggar Chicken was not the usual salted chicken that I knew but it was just a herbal chicken wrapped by clay. Will be hard for us to return.
Great place for good Chinese food with a twist! Peking duck was amazing so was the beggar chicken. Place was on the dark side, could have been litted brighter
Very friendly staffs, patient with our queries and most of their recommendations were on point. They were also very accomodating, helping us with our order from the buffet stations. Food was very decent with my friend loving the very authentic pork in vinegar sauce. Portion control was good, which helped us minimised food wastage. A definate recommendations to friends. It is too bad the venue require to go up a flight of steps (friendly staff helped my friend with her baby stuff), otherwise it will be a solid recommendation for old folks.
Authentic, solid Chinese cooking via modern western presentations. Opulent furnishings but night-club style setting not entirely cohesive to the Chinese dining experience. Good food nevertheless.
3rd time visit and dim sums are tasty. The beggar chicken is fantastic and unique way of cooking. will visit again in near future. 😊
Great food great ambience n great service. Staff was very knowledgeable and with a little humor to break the ice. Price reasonable for fine dining without the uneasiness. Overall is a great place to try out
Great ambience and attentive service, beautiful and comfy surroundings for an intimate dining experience. Quality and taste of food are not in sync with prices paid though.
Well executed food, thoughtfully plated was relished in a beautiful lovely conservation house. It was a total blast! A to go place for special occasions.
Good ambience good food my family enjoyed our experience there! Would definitely recommend this to my friends and I will be coming back again for sure!
very good food. nice environment and showy presentation. service could be more prompt given the restaurant was not even half full at Saturday lunch. but overall a very nice experience
Quality and taste of the food was generally good, but still fall behind the likes of Imperial Treasure (MBS), Tung Lok Signatures or Lei Gardens. The kurobuta char siew, anchovy kailan, fish maw shark cartilage soup and Australian lobster with steam egg-white were good. But the truffle duck was a total failure and should be taken off the menu as the duck was limp, just salty with the slightest hint of duck flavour being overpowered by the black truffle. It tasted like the truffle was the main and the duck was the garnish although it was meant to be otherwise. Main draw is its nightclub-like ambience which provides for a very comfortable seating and more conducive dining and winng experience, making one wants to sit there longer aftet dinner to continue chatting over a few bottles of wine. One complaint is that the music during dinner can be a bit too loud for good conversation.
Disappointed after knowing that the beggar chicken was not available at 1pm which is the reason I went vlv . Information needed for limited food.
Great food and service, not very sure about the decor and ambience a little too dark for my liking, could be made to feel more welcoming
Food is decent. Nice concept. Good for a night out of drinks and food. Happy hour is great! Unfortunately did not get to try their chicken, which requires pre-booking.
There was a strand of hair in one of the plates of wild nepalese rice that came with the beggar chicken. We complained to one of the waiting staff, his exact words were "It will happen because it is wild rice". WHAT?? As for the price, a bit high for the quality and portion of the food.
