With 555 Villa Thai, Singapore’s hottest hipster mookata crew have decided to chill out. A world away from their hectic joint on Circular Road and the ever-busy Serangoon Gardens outpost, Tom Yum Kungfu have teamed up with Bugis hot spot Hood Bar & Cafe and embraced the extra space and open air of Changi with brand new digs on Cosford Road. Still sporting the same funky murals and serving the same amazing contemporary Thai and fusion food – of course including their trademark UFO mookata – 555 Villa Thai lets guests enjoy the Tom Yum Kungfu experience in a new way. Hood Bar & Cafe’s involvement ensures great music, free-flowing art and creative drinks, and a huge outdoor dining area at this Changi location is perfect for picking at a communal spread and sipping on a frothy one with friends. But it’s only a matter of time until word gets out about this cool collaboration and 555 Villa Thai becomes as busy as its Tom Yum Kungfu brothers, so book well ahead and get in while you can.
If you are a non smoker, this place is not suitable for you because my table was surrounded by smokers. There doesn't seem to be an area segregated for smokers/non-smokers only. Service staff was not able to answer questions of their menu like what Tom Yum Frappe is. Was bitten by mosquitoes too as it's outdoors. However enjoyed the live music with mookata coupled with views of planes landing, though mookata here is much pricier than other Tomyum Kungfu outlets and not very accessible by public transportation.
Good food, fair pricing. Service a bit slow probably due to large crowd. Atmosphere quite hot and humid. It would be good if more fans are added and reduce the sound of the live band.
Location is not so convenient as there are no public transport to the restaurant. Nice ambience, food average, service staffs not attentive enough. Live band good.
