More about the restaurant: Times Square
Named after the illustrious landmark in New York City of the same name, Times Square is among the handful of restaurants that have recently sprung up along East Coast Road in Singapore’s foodie enclave of Katong. True to the melting pot of cultures in the city that never sleeps, the menu at Times Square features international fare with a local bent, which you can see in dishes like chicken curry rice noodles and seafood otah pizza. Even its desserts don’t shy away from the experimental, with dehydrated coconut meringue and ginger-infused cheese listed as some of the ingredients. Come on down and sample a fusion of culinary styles but before you do that, don’t forget to book ahead.

Singapore’s eastern suburb of Katong is no stranger to a variety of tastes and flavours from around the world, but none of the joints along East Coast Road brings them all together quite like Times Square does. Inspired by the buzz and energy of New York City, this brand new international restaurant at Katong Square attempts to recreate some of that vibe within its 90-seater space with celebrity pop art paintings flanking its walls, as well as bright yellow seats that pay tribute to the Big Apple’s signature yellow taxi cabs.
Although the menu at Times Square largely features well-loved classic dishes like grilled meats, pizzas and pastas, they’re not without a twist. Take, for instance, the seafood otah pizza – a Singaporean take on the popular flatbread that’s both spicy and savoury in every bite, thanks to its generous toppings of mackerel otah, sambal, mussels and prawns. The curry pilaf au gratin is another local favourite: a cross between typical cheese baked rice from Hong Kong and aromatic Hainanese style curry. Of course, there’s all-American comfort food, which comes in a juicy Times Square bagel beef burger served with piping hot truffle fries. Entertainment is also on the cards at this microcosm of ‘The City That Never Sleeps’, with a regular lineup of live music performances that keep you going till late.
