Singapore’s microbreweries are going from strength to strength, and leading the charge is The 1925, whose premises down Jalan Besar offer the opportunity to sample freshly-tapped craft beers brewed on site plus great dining in their upstairs restaurant. Located in a classic vintage Singapore shopfront, it’s always a pleasure to get together with friends for a good drinking session. Just as fantastic is a visit to the 1925 with family for a delicious treat from their all-day, brunch and lunch menus.
Singapore microbrewery’s The 1925’s range of craft beers is enormous,
representing classic styles and contemporary microbrews twists on the norm. The
honey-laced Manuka Stout offers a silken, earthy palate with Fuggle hops and a
dash of espresso, while the classic Yellow Van is liquid gold, a great session beer.
Besides their own inventions, The 1925’s beer vault plays host to a huge number of
Singaporean and international craft beers, hand-selected by The 1925’s
brewmasters for their ability to stand out from the crowd in terms of flavour and
forward-thinking brew practices. You can enjoy them all on the ground floor of The
1925’s premises down Jalan Basar.
The 1925’s restaurant is has the same exacting standards, tempered only by a great sense of atmosphere – it’s casual dining accompanied by fine wine, cocktails, and of course good microbrewed beers, that doesn’t skimp on quality. Famous in Singapore for its tender inch-think tenderloin steaks, eating at The 1925 is addictive. The 1925’s kitchen down Jalan Besar is busy all day pumping out all manner of fries, burgers, and mains. Every tried truffle, seaweed or wasabi fries? The 1925 has them, and they’re perfect with a cold pint of beer. Been longing for one of The 1925’s signature burgers but can’t decide? Then go for their mini burger sliders, representing a smaller-scale selection from the burger menu. Brunch and lunch gets a little more serious at The 1925, but there’s always good cheer to be had at this great Singapore microbrewery and restaurant.
Best location and environment. Friendly staffs and good service. Under quick bite, order the Pork ribs very tender😍 Order the sample beers, IPA is the best for me. Yellow VAN is a must try.
I went on a date here. The food was amazing as well as the drinks. It does get quite busy here so I recommend reservation before hand.
Nice place, nice atmosphere. A little noisy at times but overall was great!
Really easy to use... and quick on the reservation process. Only challenge was that the reservation did not get to the restaurant before we arrived. well, overall, it was easy to use. cheers
Although it was a Saturday night on a long weekend, the place wasn't too crowded. The service was prompt and friendly. We ordered the Pork Belly, Potato Skins, the Truffle Fries, and the Ginger Beer. The sauce for the Pork Belly was full of flavour. The pork itself was tender but I felt that it would have been great if the skin was crispier. I just kept thinking that pork crackling would have been great. The potato skins were delicious. The truffle fries were really fries with truffle mayo. What I liked though, was that they sprinkled paprika and it was something I've never really had with truffle fries. It complimented the flavours of the condiment. The Ginger Beer was good in balancing the flavours of the sauce from the pork belly dish. It would go well with dishes that are hearty and full of flavour. I would probably come back again to try the brunch menu.
the restaurant is located at an interesting street of shophouses. ambience, decoration of the restaurant was really nice. we were in fact impressed with how vintage and rustic they managed to make the place look, I love the lightings of the place too. I have to say that service was prompt, attentive, nice, professional and excellent even when we were seated upstairs. I think plus point is how restaurant was quite big with 2 levels, so the upstairs was nice and quiet on a weekday evening with not too many tables occupied. I like the creativity of the food selection, they were very different from the usual restaurants. however I personally preferred the appetiser and dessert. the main dishes were quite blend in my opinion. the beer was so so too, perhaps the one we tried was not special and unique enough. pricing of the food was on a high side for the quality of the main dishes.
I tried 4 out of the 5 beers on tap. Quite decent beers and I liked the IPA best. Noted that the half pints cost $7++ each and the full pint $15++. So order two half pints of the same beer will cost less than a full pint. Liked the Lychee martinis. Had the beef, fried chicken skin, fish and chips, Hawaiian pizza, fries platter (truffle, curry and seaweed flavours). Liked the beef and the pizza. The rest are average. Staff was attentive initially when the restaurant was quiet.. but they cannot seem to cope when it filled up. The evening was marred by a very noisy group of diners. Perhaps the restaurant should improve the acoustics .. I have seen some creative restaurants use the cheap alternative of using egg trays on the ceiling. Would have stayed longer and try more drinks if not for the unbearable noise.
The breads were very nicely toasted, I especially enjoyed the butter in the poached egg dish. Sausages were very filling and juicy, and the scrambled egg in the beef stew dish was very enjoyable, soft and dense. However, I felt that the seaweed fries didn't have a very strong seaweed flavor. The beef chunks were also a little bit hard to chew, but all around the taste was very good. The fried poached egg had a strange pungent taste that only I picked up. The roasted vegetables were a bit bitter. The beehive was excellent, but the kaya was a little bit bitter. I think there may have been too much alcohol in the dip.
Cozy place with a casual atmosphere. Foods were very nice, especially the great selection of appetizers. As for the beer selection, the website is very deceptive (almost a scam) in that 90% of the beers shown on the webpage are not available.....even in bottles. They have around 6 craft beers on draft and nothing else. The claim to brew their own beers, but none were ready for consumption. I would go back again, but definitely call first to confirm what beers are being served. The website definitely needs to be updated or preferably, the stock the beers advertised in bottles in addition to what they serve on draft.
Food consistently yummy -- it's my second visit. Must order dishes I have tried: pork belly, oysters, pizza, pulled pork burger. Smells of pancakes would waft once in a while when the bar prepared the Beehive dessert -- more yum! A bit disappointed they ran out of the beers i liked but the serving crew helpfully provided other just as good choices. The laid back, chill and chat vibe -- whether indoors or outdoors -- makes for a good close friends happy hour happier.
