The Shiitake mushroom is beloved throughout East Asia, and whether you like it boiled in a Japanese style dish, where it comes as a major component of dashi, sauteed in a Chinese classic such as Buddha’s Delight or in a Vietnamese stir-fry with crunchy vegetables, you’ll not be starved of options wherever it is that you get your mushroom cravings. If you’re after Thai food in Singapore, you’ll be similarly spoiled, and if you’re wanting both Thai and Shiitake, then the appropriately named Shiitake Restaurant on Tanjong Katar Road in Marine Parade. They offer Thai and pan-Asian dishes such as chicken with mushroom pancake, and as their chefs are from China, favourites from that part of the world such as herbal stewed lamb and spicy charcoal grilled fish, with a huge range of herbs and spices, and no MSG, salt or artificial stocks. Pan-Asian cooking in Singapore doesn’t get much better than Shiitake – so book a table online now and head on into Geylang to see what they have to offer.
