More about the restaurant: Pastilla Cafe

Pastilla Cafe, a Moroccan enclave on Changi Road, Singapore is the brainchild of chef and owner Said Ibrahimi. Said delights in serving up the absolute best of Moroccan cuisine, having cut his teeth in the now sadly defunct Pasha restaurant, probably the first authentic Moroccan restaurant in Singapore. At Pastilla, Said takes the reins and offers his customers delicious food, served only once it’s ready. This means that service can be a little uneven, but that shouldn’t put off potential diners from seeking out this Moroccan gem.

Thinking about making a Pastilla Cafe booking?

Pastilla Café dishes out halal Moroccan food with aplomb. This Changi Road eatery is the relaxed sister of the more formal Pasha. Diners are invited into this treasure trove of a café, brimming with Moroccan lamps, tableware and mirrors, to enjoy a meal that is thoroughly without fuss. Traditional dishes like hummus and mohammara make up the starters, and for a main course, diners should consider opting for a tajine of beef meatballs roasted for hours with tomatoes. Or else go for roasted chicken. Admittedly, this dish doesn’t sound much, but once you realise we’re talking about Pastilla Moroccan chicken roasted with a blend of 20 spices and smothered in 9 month old aged butter for an earthy, sharp, and pleasantly bitter bite, you’ll realise this is no ordinary roast chicken.

Chef Said also turns his talented hands to baking, so patrons of Pastilla Café are likely to encounter his homemade, fresh breads on a visit to the Changi Road dining room, and many choose to enjoy a range of dips with the chef’s bread rather than a traditional starter. Pastilla Café is open Tuesday to Sunday from 5pm, for diners looking for authentic Moroccan cuisine at affordable prices, prepared by one of Singapore’s Moroccan experts.
