Ootoya - Orchard Central

One of the set lunch menus was too confusing. Other than that, the food was good.

Ordered tofu and egg soup but was too salty to my liking. And had to wait for quite a bit considering it was not a very crowded day/time.

Thought the mini Chirashi don will be just mini size. But turned out to be quite substantial, enuf for a small eater. The ingredients were fresh. Value for $ There are 2 dining areas with the one behind the wall a lot more privacy. Seating more like private booths, nice & cosy

The food was good. New customers can scan a QR code on the table & get to a free drink from the menu. Most pick the matcha float.

The food is good and portion was just nice. Service is not very fast.

Always love the food here at Ootoya! My favorite got to be the grilled chicken salad which is so flavorful and yummy that makes me want to eat salad whenever I am at Ootoya. Staff service is great too and I really enjoyed my dinner there with my boyfriend. Thank you!

I like to have late lunch in Ootoya, less people & shorter waiting time. Staff are friendly & attentive. Their healthy lunch set is really value-for-money, my favourite is the Japanese toufu salad 🥗 set, the amazingly creamy fresh toufu, with multi-grain rice, soup, chicken & dessert, etc.... quite a hearty & yummy meal!! 😋

Authentic japanese food! Pretty good atmosphere too and I enjoyed celebrating my friend’s birthday there.

Cozy environment, attentive and friendly service (almost Japan standards!), and authentic, delicious food. Portions are also quite generous for the set meals. One of the best affordable 'family restaurant' type Japanese eateries.

The party area looks nice. But was assigned for the seat at the inner side of the restaurant. Food wise is okay, there is some gang smell in the Chawamushi, but the egg itself is still smooth.

Food and service was great as usual. Lesser crowd if you go earlier.

The staff took a while to find my quandoo reservation as they werent familiar with this reservation platform. The place looked rather traditional for a Japanese restaurant and the food was affordable. Loved the iced green tea which was refreshing! It came with free refills too!

Overall food and service is great and there is complimentary drink and desserts for new member signup. Thumbs up to the food though shop opened ag 1115am though our reservation was 11am.

All was good with the food and service.Just I am not fine with the free space between the tables.It is a bit narrow for me.

The food are nice however the staff are not attentive enough to check on the customers sitting right at the back of the restaurant frequently.

Authentic Jap food with many healthy options on the menu. However, some of the grilled items were sold out even though we are there at 700pm. Overall, decent food with reasonable price. Will definitely visit again.

This was my 3rd visit to this relatively small restaurant tucked away on the 8th level of quiet Orchard Central. However, I love the food including the portion sizes served. Good place to have a casual time with friends who are not loud/noisy as the place is really not big.

My 3rd visit here did not disappoint me as with the 1st 2. Food was good, both my friend and I had a beer each, which was relatively cheap.

The menu was different from the last visit; service was average but food was pretty good. Will be good to have more variety for the menu

Went with 2 friends, food was great & our sharing portion was good for small eaters like us. Ambience was simple but good for meet ups. Overall good experience!

Nice to gather in Orchard Road area. Food as good but very noisy especially the crowd around 6pm and 730 pm from the neighbour which is a Japanese buffet joint. Probably a place to go once and that is it.

Food was good, like a izakaya style. The breaded tonkatsu was light and freshly fried while the soba was delicious over a very hot broth.

Restaurant was under staff . It took a few times to get their attention for my meal ordering . I ordered 2 sets but they left out my chawanmushi , I had to highlight it to them . My drinks didn't came , waitress retook my drink order 2nd time & asked what was my initial drink order . I ordered for Bonito salad , they served me a potato salad . I wanted a refill of my hot green tea , it took a long while again to get their attention as there wasn't enough servers . During my time in restaurant , i saw the table next to me raised their hands 5 times to get their attention for meal ordering , each time the server would tell them to hang on but none came back to them . The gentleman from that table had to eventually stand up , take the menu to the servers at the kitchen counter to placed his orders . Other than being under staff , mixed up & missing of my orders , food tasted great . Meats were succulent & tasty .

Waitress was friendly and patient and ambience is good. Waiting time for food is reasonable and I love the grill dishes here especially the buri grill and pork belly grill.

Had a meal there with the family. Good value meals with good quality ingredients. Nice. Preferred the seats outside as the inner area booths are quite claustrophbic.

Food is so so only, the portion is a bit small. Is actually expensive With the kind of potion. Not so worth it if you are a big eater.

I was quite disappointed with my experience at the Orchard Central outlet. I have been to other outlets before and service was excellent. The restaurant seemed quite quiet during lunch service yesterday. Still the kitchen forgot about my sashimi order. Only when I asked about it, towards the end of my meal, did the server check again. Even then, she brought out the wrong order of sashimi! Since it was already prepared, I accepted it. My set meal was brought out first. My lunch partner's meal was brought out almost 15 min later. It would have been nice for both meals to be served together so we could start eating together. By the time my lunch partner's meal arrived, my meal had turned cold. The quality of food was good. Sadly the dining experience was not up to par.

The sanma fish was well grilled retaining the fish natural sweetness and moisture. The physical environment and the food receptacles are aged and renewal will enhance the dinning experience

Tried a variety of dishes. Delicious food as always and good service too. Healthy and satisfying! Perfect for a gathering of any size away from the crowds.

Was crowded during lunch time. Food was average only although the variety was good. Service was passable given the lunch crowd. There are also several promotions and discounts available.

Excellent dining experience. The ambience reminded of a home or izakaya. Food was special and sauces tasted unique and home made. Not mass produced. Service attentive.

This was my second visit which was a better experience as I was early and it was not noisy. Food portion is just right and taste good. Desserts were good.

Overall good meal at restaurant. Food is served quick. Quiet on Sunday lunch. Leisure and relax lunch. Food is good. Will return again. 4 pax abt $85.

The food portions have gone down quite a bit since 1-2 years ago, especially the chawamushi and the sides that comes with the set meal.

Ootoya offers comfort food in a decent atmosphere. Very healthy and yummy! It is recommended for those who value conscious eating and natural flavours. Worth many return trips!

Great service from staff! very fast in their response, and always making us feel welcome and happy. Highly recommend Ootoya. Food quality is good and consistent too.

Quality food served at reasonable price especially their set menu. A pleasant dining venue for family and friends meetup. Service staff are polite and friendly.
