A different yakiniku experience, they bbq the meat over a crystal plate for you and explain each one. I’m a repeat customer over several years

This is my 2nd visit to Niku Katsumata. Our previous visit was excellent. We were just two people and were seated at the counter. The Japanese chef (sorry I dont recall his name) was attentive to us throughout our meal, and the grilling of the meat was meticulously handled in terms of evenness, timing and delivery to our plates. The wagyu was simply cooked perfectly. Our chef showed high level of professionalism and took care of all our needs and requests. This time I returned in a group of 3 and was seated at the booth. We were greeted by the only waitress, who immediately asked where we are from (based on our non-Singaporean accent). We ordered and she started to bring the appetisers to us, which arrived

When with very high expectations due to a referral from a friend but was not extremely amazed by the food although it was not bad. Still extremely pricey in my opinion.

The highlight here is the crystal bbq at lower heat at your table. The Katsumata 7 course menu is very good, and the total portion was just right. Japanese wagyu is a mix of lean and marbled cuts.

Overall it is a small restaurant with good ambience, just a little inconvenient to get to the restaurant’s location. Food is of high quality however servings tend to be slightly on the smaller side. Will visit again for good quality wagyu :)

Expensive top grade beef from Japan, enjoy cooked beef according to our requirement by experienced restaurant staff right at the table, the crystal hot plate makes the cooking fast & smoke free. 😋😋👍🏻👍🏻 The meat platte is a value-for-money option than ala carte dishes. Quite a luxury to have juicy wagyu melting in mouth.... great experience!! 😃

Service was good, attentive without being intrusive. Quality of the beef is excellent, one of the best I have ever tasted in Singapore, and the curry rice is heavenly, wish the portion was bigger though.

Wagyu steak don was delicious and the beef yakiniku too (best part no smell n meat does not have the usual burnt corners, they dun use the convention way to barbecue). The cocktails were delicious too!

Though much has been mentioned about NK and all positive, the intention of grilling meats is to obtain a sear for the flavour. What NK does is to gently brown the meats by frequent turning on the crystal plate. This is to prevent the plate blackening (which is like having a BBQ but focusing on keeping the grill as clean as possible. Why?). The result is then a grilled piece of meat that is closer to boiled meat in flavour. Thus rendering the entire point of grilling ... pointless. it's a good thing they don't serve premium cuts because it would be a travesty to cook the premium cuts this way. For good order, service is very pleasant and unobtrusive. The appetisers were well done with the highlight being the Umami Seaweed.
