It used to be that dining at Niku Katsumata was reserved for members of the elite. Well, that is at least the case at its Tokyo flagship, which is why yakiniku fans in Singapore were over the moon when the Japanese restaurant opened its first overseas outlet in Tanjong Pagar. Top quality Wagyu imported from the prefectures of Kagoshima and Kumamoto is cooked on a crystal plate over a low flame, making every bite a tender, juicy delight. Both the Katsumata and Ebisu menus promise a well-rounded gastronomic experience on Duxton Road like no other. More importantly, don’t forget to book ahead as seats are often in demand.
Excellent service! Awesome food! The meat selection especially. Will surely return. Will try the rest of the alla carts selection next time. The multiple selection sets are good for the first visit.
Excellent yakiniku and beef sashimi flown from Japan. Yakiniku is cooked on crystal glass which is a different experience from other Japanese restaurant. Attentive service. Would recommend others
It was very nice, especially Yakiniku by crystal plate was fantastic. Torisoba which was served at final was also ecellent. I would like to go again.
Great service and food was amazing too! If it's only 2 of you, choose to sit at the counter, it's more interactive and you get to enjoy the chefs preparing the food.
Though much has been mentioned about NK and all positive, the intention of grilling meats is to obtain a sear for the flavour. What NK does is to gently brown the meats by frequent turning on the crystal plate. This is to prevent the plate blackening (which is like having a BBQ but focusing on keeping the grill as clean as possible. Why?). The result is then a grilled piece of meat that is closer to boiled meat in flavour. Thus rendering the entire point of grilling ... pointless. it's a good thing they don't serve premium cuts because it would be a travesty to cook the premium cuts this way. For good order, service is very pleasant and unobtrusive. The appetisers were well done with the highlight being the Umami Seaweed.
The overall experience is fantastic. The service was excellent and very personalized. I highly recommend it if you like high quality beef. On the hind side, the beef curry rice was special and should be tried.
Wagyu steak don was delicious and the beef yakiniku too (best part no smell n meat does not have the usual burnt corners, they dun use the convention way to barbecue). The cocktails were delicious too!
Pleasant ambient, attentive staff and food was value for money. Good selection of set and a-la-carte meals, good spread of beverage list. Overall a wonderful experience dining in the restaurant.
Service was good, attentive without being intrusive. Quality of the beef is excellent, one of the best I have ever tasted in Singapore, and the curry rice is heavenly, wish the portion was bigger though.
They serve fine A4 grade Wagyu, one of the best in town! The friendly chef and serving staff made my dining experience a very pleasant one.
