Legend has it that the rooms of Singapore’s East Coast Road are the lair of a monstrous taco, filled with all sorts of ingredients.
Grab your poncho and don’t forget your sombrero if you’re heading to Margarita’s Restaurante Cantina on East Coast Road in Singapore. A universe of Mexican food awaits you. Start your visit with a few tortillas or nachos accompanied by a suitable dip. Afterwards you can decide between classic meals out of the Mexican kitchen. Choose for example fajitas with guacamole, cheese, or sour cream, or perhaps tasty enchiladas with spinach.
If you pay a visit to Margarita’s Restaurante Cantina, be sure to not miss the kitchen sink burrito. This beast will bring careless visitors to their knees. It is filled with every ingredient possible except for the kitchen sink, despite the interesting name. After you lose the battle against the mother of all tacos, you can forget your defeat, taking more careful sips of the eponymous cocktail in Margarita’s Restaurante Cantina. While the margarita glass slowly empties, you can plan your next victory against Singapore’s most famous taco.
We really had a good time. Staff got our orders correct but they could've been a little more attentive. Eg. The staff was topping up water for the next table and when done, should've looked around to check if any other patrons needed a top up. We had to call him as he was about to just return to the kitchen as we also needed the top up. Food was very good. Especially the Nacho starters. As it was our first time, we didn't know the portion size. Had starters and each ordered a main. The portions were very generous. It'll be great if the staff can just advise patrons of the portion size, which was good for a guy but a bit too much for some ladies. As it was my wife's birthday, I brought 2 bottles of special reds, however the corkage was a touch stiff. $30 per bottle. I don't mind paying corkage as the wines was a St Hugo reserved. But $30 is a bit stiff, especially we were a table of 11 and other drinks were ordered. That aside, they were very nice allowing us to bring our own cake. On the whole, I'd recommend this place and will certainly return.
