En Bar offers an intimate, exclusive vibe that makes it ideal for escaping urban life for an evening of decadent indulgence. With En Bar, Robertson Quay – an area near the Singapore River loaded with popular bars, chic galleries and trendy bistros – has a superb Japanese-fusion venue added to its cap. Open until the early morning hours and always popular, what makes this eatery on River Valley Road really stand out is its unique style of east-meets-west tapas. Offering a variety of grilled favorites with a modern twist in an open-kitchen atmosphere, guests are able to observe every step of the cooking process and catch sight (and scent) of what they’re about to enjoy, a surefire way to get the taste buds going while enjoying a pre-meal drink at the stylish lounge bar.
Located on River Valley Road, En Grill and Bar is just minutes from the beautiful Singapore River. The unique interior of the primarily Japanese-style restaurant creates a kind of magnetic intimacy, promoted by a kaleidoscope of rich colours punctuated by plush designer furniture that creates a warm, cosy and classy atmosphere. First impressions of Robertson Quay’s En Bar may well remind of a private members’ club (well, it certainly does bring guests back again and again), adorned with gold-ornamented designer wallpaper and gorgeous sofas that suggest an exclusive space.
Despite its prime, central location on River Valley Road in Robertson Quay, En Bar provides a welcome respite from urban chaos, thanks largely to the relaxed alfresco outdoor seating area (visible from a peek-a-boo wall stretching along the adjacent corridor) featuring candle-lit coffee tables, wicker sofas and lush greenery that make it the perfect tonic if you’re worn down by the congestion and constant activity of city living – this outdoor area is also ideal for corporate functions, private cocktail parties and larger group gathering of all kinds. Whether inside at the bar and restaurant or outside in the alfresco area, though, you’re guaranteed of some superb food wherever you are at Singapore’s En Bar. Covering an impressive spectrum of Asian and European influences, En Bar specialises in primarily Japanese-inspired fusion small plates, which are designed to complement the fully stocked bar that offers an extensive variety of wine, spirits, Sake Shochu and authentic Awamori.
EN Bar was very quiet for weekday dinner, and a great place to catch up with my friends. the staff says it gets noisier later in the night, since they open till 2pm. Staff was very friendly and the bar food is surprisingly great.
Small servings but tasty. Quiet place to catch up with friends in the week nights
Manager offered good service and was friendly, sharing with us popular items on the menu. But the ambience and Food quality was so so only.
The inside smells like stale cigarettes. While the food and service was good, the menu was rather limited and is different from the online version.
The Good: Food was good, especially the wafu steak sirloin and the soft shell crab. Ambience was excellent, although the tables are slightly too low to properly eat food like rice or ramen. The Bad: The jumbo hotate yaki disappointed though, with the scallop soggy and not being fresh. There was also confusion among the staff around the two-for-two Japanese cocktails offer from Entertainer. Apparently it only applies to their shochu drinks, but at $8.50 per drink, we're unsure why Entertainer claimed we saved $25 using this offer.
good overall. service can be better. hamburg oishi but small portion
