Thinking about making a Lobby Lounge @ Conrad Centennial Hotel booking?

Located between Promenade and Esplanade stations along Temasek Boulevard in Singapore’s City Hall district, you’d be forgiven for not investigating the possibilities that the area’s many luxury hotels afford when you’re looking for a novel place to dine or drink. Most end up at SunTec City Mall, but if you think laterally there are plenty of restaurants that call hotels home but are open to the public. The Conrad Centennial Singapore Hotel is one such place, with quite a few restaurants and bars hidden away inside, normally only known to hotel guests. Let us let you in on two little secrets in the city, the Lobby Lounge at the Conrad Centennial and its neighbour, an artisanal bakery and deli called The Terrace. This latter is more of a daytime haunt, with al fresco seating where guests can enjoy head pastry chef Bruno Philippe’s hybrid muffin-croissant, the Cruffin and a whole lot more besides. Let’s take a look first at the nocturnally inclined Lobby Lounge first.

Those in the know come to the Lobby Lounge for its luxurious afternoon teas, replete with an oyster buffet, meat carving stations, an unlimited selection of chocolate, and tropical sangrias if Ceylon’s finest isn’t cutting the mustard. Being a hotel lounge, it makes sense that The Conrad Centennial Singapore uses this space to lay on lunches that are designed to impress the business set. And what a space it is. This little-known City Hall lounge bar is all marble pillars and – here’s the jewel in the crown – even boasts a 24-carat gold ceiling! No wonder those with a nose for exclusivity are keeping mum about this secret spot down Temasek Boulevard. Unsurprisingly, the drinks and cocktails are five-star numbers, too: artisanal gin and tonics, Armagnacs, ports, and single malt whiskies matched with premium cigars are all things best enjoyed when the Lobby Lounge puts on live music from on Thursday through to Saturday nights. Come the morning, expect a crowd at The Terrace, all eager for a perfectly brewed coffee, a Ronnefeldt tea set and a selection of gourmet croissants, cakes and pastries. Sandwiches are on offer too, and there’s an amazing array of 11 types of freshly baked bread that you can take home with you. Those with a sweet tooth will devour The Terrace’s cakes, including made-to-order 3D cakes, perfect for birthdays! Hot tip: pop in after 7pm on your way to the Lobby Lounge and receive half-price savoury selections.
