With a number of locations in Singapore, Chuan Yang Ji is a favourite among the city-states steamboat loving foodies. There may be no shortage of steamboat restaurants, but Chuan Yang Ji is a name that stands out from the rest, specialising in mutton soup steamboat. You will find the Balestier branch located on Balestier Road, and its cosy setting and affordable prices make it perfect for a big family meal or a communal dining experience with friends. From mouthwatering meats and seafood to fresh veggies, there’s no shortage of steamboat ingredients on the menu at Chuan Yang Ji, be sure to try their speciality mutton ribs! To guarantee a table at this local hotspot, making a reservation in advance is recommended.
Always a great time being back to my favourite mutton soup steamboat place! However, now they charge for sauces at an additional $2 per pax!
Small & cosy place. Food was surprisingly good. Will not hesitate to visit again.
Quality food + good service = Happy diners. Very good priced.
Very good taste, good service, reasonable price (about $30 per person). Except hot pot, these are also dishes provided, which has better fit for all of us.
If you love mutton, this is the place to go. I read other reviews about this restaurant. Saying how soft and tender their mutton ribs are, you must try it to know exactly how tender they are. Their Chilli dipping sauce is mala flavour which we enjoy a lot. Their side dishes are good too! Good dinning place for rainy days. Didn't give full rating because they only have a small variety of steamboat ingredients.
The mutton soup set is good, but the star dish is the mutton skewer. This skewer thing rubbed with the best combination of spices (chili and cumin and who knows what) is so addictive. The version here is full of aroma, though the basic flavours are still there.
Good service. They accept reservations. What I really love is their tender, tasty mutton ribs. The soup has a strong herbal taste. Recommended to come in big groups and order by ala carte with a small soup($15)
First time visit to the balestier outlet, place is small, with aircon can only serve 3 round table. food is good and service is acceptable. For mutton lovers, you can consider give it a try.
With quality dishes at affordable prices. The food is fresh and tasty. Environment is nice. Very friendly and accommodating staff. Price is reasonable. Overall it's a very good dining experience.
Food is good, especially the lamb soup and the BBQ skewer. Service is super nice! Good for group gathering. But the price is not cheap considering their place (less overhead due to location and less rental).
