Beyond Veggie

Beyond Veggie has found fame in Malaysia as one of the country’s best all-vegetarian (just a note here, this is not a vegan restaurant, although some dishes are suitable for vegans) joints and has turned up in Singapore offering more of the same to locals here. On Greenwood Avenue, in a hard-to-find spot between Bukit Timah and Hillcrest Road, the team are offering their famous meatless dishes of great pan-Asian cuisine to the city’s hungry veggies, and adventurous carnivores.

There’s plenty to get excited about at Beyond Veggie’s Singaporean incarnation, not least the chic interior in Greenwood Avenue. There are a few places in the city offering vegetarian-friendly menus, but they don’t tend to come paired with upmarket, fine-dining surrounding – and here Beyond Veggie has found its niche. There are a few good restaurants in Greenwood Avenue’s vicinity, and Beyond Veggie is doing a fine job of flying the flag for great meatless food in the city.

Hillcrest Park in Singapore’s hip Bukit Timah’s district is a fitting location for a strictly-vegetarian restaurant. Beyond Veggie, having thoroughly conquered the Malaysian market, is making a big impression on the city’s famously discerning foodies. Rather than relying on meat-substitutes, the menu here aims to find fitting alternatives to meat – so expect your satay to be filled with robust mushrooms rather than meek tofu. In addition to these pan-Asian staples, there’s a daily changing menu of fresh, local favourites too. If you somehow manage not to fill up on stir fries and eggplant curries, the team make excellent cakes which go down nicely when accompanied by a cup of coffee and are the perfect way to round off a veggie meal.
