Ash & Char, as we said, is the most stylish of settings. As gastrobars in Telok Ayer go, Ash & Char is one of our favourites and its space is cool and understated with muted lighting that matches the atmosphere and menu just perfectly. It really is a very pleasant place to sit and it’s excellently located as well, right on McCallum Street, just down from Telok Ayer MRT. So whether for a casual meal or a slightly more formal occasion sampling delicious international dishes, this is one Singapore restaurant that won’t disappoint and has all the bases covered.
For lunch we’d really recommend the Asian-inspired rice and salad bowls at Ash & Char. We love the grilled striploin with a sous vide egg; glazed teriyaki tofu or the salmon filled with torched mentaiko, ikura and a sous vide egg. Later, sample tapas dishes such as fish karaage topped with mozzarella; crispy calamari served with kale; the assorted battered mushrooms tossed in truffle oil and Chinese-style pork sliders. For something more filling, Ash & Char offers mouthwatering steaks and fresh seafood as well as the signature Weroc wings and burgers packed with all manner of fillings. The dishes at Ash & Char are presented beautifully and some of the most indulgent you’ll find in this part of Singapore So reserve a table and head to McCallum Street in Telok Ayer now for an international feast to remember.
My first visit after they had undergone a renovation and makeover. Menu has changed, I think. I had the tom yum pasta, which was really nice. Worth a second visit
Good food, Good service. In love with the chicken wing and char siew :) Overall satisfied. Definitely will go back again :) Had recommended to friends as well.
Attracted by their 1-for-1 steak at $40++, my girlfriend and I made our way to Ash & Cha. For starter, we ordered the Salt & Pepper Calamari, only to be advised that it was sold out. We ordered the St Louis BBQ Ribs instead. Our steaks came before the starter. But, no worries there as both dishes were meat. We had ordered our steaks done medium rare and they came as ordered. The steak was heavenly chewy and flavorsome. The BBQ ribs met the expectations of two seasoned carnivores too. The meat did not exactly slide off the bones but it was tender and smoky. Two thumbs up!
Overall, ambience was great! The restaurant even went on an extra effort to dim the lights and made the mood a bit more relaxing and lighter in the inner couches area. Food was perfect; highly recommending their char siew, roasted to perfection with a seeet yet not clingy sauce. Would def come here again!
We had a ribeye and tenderloin. Both were grilled to medium. The meat was so tender and juicy. We really enjoyed our dinner. We also ordered calamari, truffle fries and nachos. These were also very delicious. Will definitely order them again when we are back. The servicing crew was also very friendly. Highly recommended.
Plenty of options in terms of food choices and very suitable for sharing. The food itself was great. Recommend to go in a group especially at night. Staff were attentive and we didn't have to wait long for anything.
Had the 1 for 1 promotion steak. Very tender and good. The butter on top of the steak adds to the flavour. Worth the buck.
Nice ambience. Food tastes good. Yuzu cheesecake is delicious but the portion is way too small. Service was overall ok. Wine selection is limited when we were there.
Second time here in 2 weeks. Tried the classic alio oglio this time round. Not as good as the tom yum pasta.
Ambience is good, char siu bowl is tasty and filling but the sauce is a tad too sweet for me. Brownie can be improved further too!
