It was very good experience with tasty and affordable sushi. I enjoyed a nice environment and food.

We had a really lovely experience at Sushi Takemitsu Omakase. From the moment we sat down, it felt calm and unpretentious, and you could tell care had gone into both the food and the setting. The ingredients were clearly very fresh, especially the sashimi, which was of a really high standard throughout the meal. We were pleasantly surprised to have uni featured in 3 out of the 16 courses—it didn’t feel repetitive, and each one was done slightly differently, which made it even more enjoyable. The dishes were creative in a good way—nothing overly complicated, just letting the natural flavours come through with different combinations. We liked that there were unique touches here and there, but it never felt like they were trying too hard because the food quality and standards were high to begin with. One thing that stood out was the aged sashimi. It’s not something you see everywhere, and it had a deeper, richer flavour compared to the usual cuts. Definitely memorable. Chef Peter was also a big part of what made the meal enjoyable. He was warm, easy to talk to, and took the time to explain each dish without making it feel formal or scripted. It made the whole experience feel more personal. Overall, it’s the kind of place we’d happily go back to—good food, thoughtful touches, and genuinely nice hospitality. This place has definitely topped the charts for us. We strongly recommend!

Horrible experience! Booked this meal cuz I saw reviews from people who tried all the options and recommended it. But it was so poorly made—most dishes were way too salty, while the soup was totally bland and tasteless. Even the snails had sand and grit in them… not cleaned properly at all. Service was worse. The staff was super unprofessional—acted like they didn’t understand Chinese, but their English was also terrible. I asked what flavor the ice cream was, and they had no clue what I was saying. Then, right as I was finishing, one worker rudely rushed me out. How dare they charge a service fee?? Just because I’m young and ordered the smallest set menu? Felt totally discriminated against. Came out for a simple weekend meal and ended up getting a lesson in bad service… left a bad taste in my mouth.

Overall very good food. The sashimi was very fresh, and very well executed. Chefs were friendly and showed us on a tablet what the fish were eating looked like. Maybe slightly lacking was the limited selection of drinks, as well as unimaginative dessert option (just a scoop of ice cream for the Hinode set).

Second time here to celebrate a birthday, and it was just as wonderful as the first. The chef was warm and welcoming, taking the time to share about each dish, which added a lovely personal touch to the experience. The omakase course was thoughtfully curated and beautifully presented, every dish was delicious! Highly recommend for a special occasion or for anyone looking for a quality omakase experience.

Quality of raw food was good but the flavours of their cold dishes just didn’t work for me. It tasted like the ingredients ‘forced’ to work together. Their service staff was pleasant but lacked common sense. I arrived at the restaurant 10 mins early and waited outside. Around 3-4 mins later, a staff stood by the door. I acknowledged her with a nod. She didn’t approach me to let me in so I thought I’d have to wait outside til they officially open. Another 3-4mins passed, and a group of diners arrived and she ushered them in. So there I was, poker-faced, trying to hide my stun. I was seated at the end of the sushi counter, next to the kitchen. It wasn’t a pleasant place to sit at. I booked my slot at the last minute so it’s totally understandable to be given the worst seat. But there were 2 perfectly empty seats at the other end of the sushi counter! The restaurant is small, with only 10 counter seats. Personally I found it too noisy, with the head chef’s booming voice entertaining the guests at the ‘prime’ middle seats most of the time. Well, to be fair to him, he did try to make (what felt like obligatory) conversations with the rest of the diners by asking if the food tasted good (sorry chef for not giving you a positive response when you asked) or if everything was ok. Ambience-wise, it felt too rowdy for me. Granted, this is one of the cheaper omakase places around, so.. I guess over here, you get what you pay for.

Food is amazing and because we took the last seating time slot, there is no other patrons except for me and my wife. Chef took the time to explain all the dishes to us, letting us know the best way to consume them. We can taste the the ingredients are very fresh and exquisite, even down to the tiniest detail like soy sauce, which was handmade for specific dishes.

Had an amazing lunch at a Takemitsu! The entire experience was filled with incredible flavors. The highlight was definitely their aged sashimi, which was unlike anything I’ve had before— so fresh, rich, and perfectly prepared. Chef Peter brought the experience to life with his humor, cracking jokes and sharing stories, which made the meal feel much more than just dining—it felt like a special event. His assistant was equally engaging, walking us through each dish with care, explaining the ingredients, which added a deeper appreciation for what we were enjoying. Chef Peter was also so generous with the portions and ingredients—I lost count of how many dishes featured uni, each one paired differently to highlight new flavors and textures! Despite the high quality and creativity of the dishes, the price was surprisingly reasonable. I left feeling satisfied and excited to return. The waitress/server put her finger into my full cup of sake and tried to take it away. No reasoning was given as to why. She came back with an empty cup. go here if you want someone to finger your drink and pay for mediocre omakase.
