Very good food . Scope for improvement in service . On a few occasions I had to pour my own wine . If I get up in the midst of my dinner , the napkin should be folded and kept neatly on my table which was not the case . A small side table can be provided for ladies to keep their hand bags . The restaurant decor should be improved. The dinning chairs don’t look that great
Service and food were impeccable and excellent. We had the 6-course dinner with wine pairing. The only two shortcomings were 1) the venison were lower grade than we thought it should be (was a bit tough so we didn't finish it) 2) wine served was mostly French rather than Spanish which is a pity cos this is Spanish cuisine after all. This was quickly corrected by the staff on the spot when we gave feedback and we are pleased with the quality.
The ambience is nice. The food there is good esp the crispy toufu and chilean seabass. Vanila custard w gula melaka and berry is very refreshing. The fusion touch in the dish gives the unique combinatin of creation. Weekday lunch starts at $39++ is definitely worthy.
Went on a weekday for lunch. Service is excellent and the food is decent. The pasta was a little dry and perhaps more tailored to local tastes.
This was a birthday celebration for my husband and overall it was a very pleasant experience and the birthday boy was happy. We took the 6 course meal and almost every course, including the snacks, was visually photo worthy and had most of us nodding our heads in approval and at the same time trying to decipher the flavors, tastes, and ingredients. Two of us in the party of 6 felt there was an overuse of truffle in too many of the courses, but truffle lovers like me will have no complaint. The Hokkaido scallop sashimi and and the lobster were very fresh and sweet and the venison very tender and not gamey. Although quite pricey at almost $200 per head for the 6 course set with one bottle of wine to share, we felt that the quality ingredients, the attentive service and the ambience of the restaurant is worth it for a special occasion.
This is the fourth time I've dined at Alma and the Degustation menu never fails to surprise my tastebuds. The delicate combination of ingredients and garnishes brings out the unique taste of each dish. The plating of each dish is a state of art and one can sense the pure culinary passion of the Chef from the complexity of the dishes compositions. The ambiance is just right with a good list of wine to select from. The service crew is great and very knowledgeable, providing full explanation of what goes behind each dish. In summary, a quintessence experience for me. if you are driving, you might want to consider parking at Far East Plaza, a short walk to the restaurant.
Expect to be taken on a fantastic culinary journey at Alma. The delight is in trying things that you normally wouldn't order in a restaurant. All the dishes were top notch, the service was excellent. We had the wine pairing, which worked perfectly with the meal. We also enjoyed trying to guess what the wines were and the staff happily played along with this. If you have a special occasion then I would wholly recommend.
Food is really delicious, particularly the crispy tofu, Chilean seabass, and beef ribs. Dessert is nothing to write home about. Unfortunately, the service was really poor. The restaurant wasn’t full and we were the largest party they had at that time. However, they paid us no attention after we had ordered, and we had to wait a long time (15-20 min) before we are able to even order wine or get our bread basket. The restaurant wasn’t even busy at that time. The wait staff often congregated at one corner to talk amongst themselves. I enjoyed the food but I don’t love it enough to brave the poor service.
The Hokkaido scallop appetizer was excellent !!! For main course, I had the Mangalica pork. I have had this in Gundol's in Budapest. Their pork tenderloin was really tender. Yours was flavorfull, but somewhat tough at the edge without fat. The lemon dessert was very good. We ordered coffee, but you did not have artificial sweeteners (Splenda/Equal/Truvia) for your coffee. I would rate you 4.5, but having to choose between 4 or 5, I guess it is more a 4.
Had an enjoyable lunch with friends- the 3-course set lunch was very good value at $39.90, with supplement charge applied for several options. Dishes were well presented, Service was attentive, but somewhat too eager, interrupting conversation a few times to ask/tell us something. Note that parking is not redeemable, and can get expensive for a long lunch.
