Ideally located opposite the Al-Abrar mosque along Chinatown’s historic Telok Ayer Street, Urban Bites Mediterranean Cuisine serves what its name suggests: healthy nuggets of Mediterranean-influenced food to Singapore’s hungry. While there are a number of sweet and savoury dishes that take their cues from western cuisines, the focus here is definitely on the Middle Eastern shores of the Med, with great Lebanese-style sandwiches a popular option among regulars to this friendly cafe-restaurant.
Please be noted that your table will be held for 5 minutes.
A simple bowl of lentil soup is a rustic way to begin a meal at Singapore’s Urban Bites Mediterranean Cuisine. It’s a staple for many people living around the Mediterranean sea, and its simplicity belies the depth and subtlety of this robust dish. Urban Bites’ Lebanese kebabs are famous among Chinatown and Telok Ayer Street locals, so why not go the whole hog (no pork in sight, we assure you!) and order up the mixed grill platter – lamb and chicken kebabs with rice, pita, hummus, and falafel.
Yes, indeed, Urban Bites Mediterranean Cuisine’s Telok Ayer Street premises, set inside a pretty shophouse in the heart of Singapore’s historic Chinatown, attracts a steady stream of locals and nearby office workers, nostalgic Lebanese and curious tourists. They’re here for the friendly service and, above all, the great Mediterranean-style food. The food, certainly, but sometimes just a novel way to cool down on those hot days in the city: in these cases, we recommend a refreshing and eminently Middle Eastern quaff of Ayran sweet yoghurt drink. By then you’ll be eyeing up the meze platters and booking a table if you hadn’t already.
It was fast, and convenient! The moment you enter the door, you are whisked away to your reserved seats. I would definitely use it again!
Rare find of Mediterranean food in the CBD area, and it was really not bad! Oh, beware of the big portions! The shawarma has fries both inside and out!
Good new ambience and good food! A lot of choices to pick from. Choices for desserts are limited compared to previous day! Nonetheless it's worth the walk from office.
Very authentic food and good ambience. Unlike many Mediterranean restaurants, it has many options for vegetarian people as well. The price is also decent for a casual dining.
It's clean, provides fast service, offers good food at a good price. Furthermore, you can book online which is an added benefit considering it's located close to CBD and can get quite busy lunch time.
The shawarma wrap was delicious, and the set lunch looked super good too (will definitely try it next time). Another surprise was that prices listed are nett!
Very nice food and value for money. Busy during lunch time but worth waiting. Worth mentioning humus and wraps, they are so delicious! Will definitely come back.
Good food, place just a bit small. Need more words? don't know what to say. a a a a a a a a a a a a
