Few things are as celebrated in the British culinary tradition as the humble country pub, but the quality can often be variable. At The Chequers, they offer a take on the national cuisine that is a cut above the norm, with a menu designed to take in the best that the ingredients of the nation have to offer, like Cornish plaice and lamb, Aubrey Allen beef and the iconic full English breakfasts. Take a trip to The Chequers – along Kidderminster Road in Cutnall Green on the outskirts of Worcester – for a superlative British pub experience.
The British pub tradition is one that endures into the modern era, and at The Chequers on Kidderminster Road in Cutnall Green, they are keeping that tradition alive in style. Home to Roger Norbett, the former England national football team chef, but that is where the tradition of failure ends: their menu is a complete success, filled with British favourites that draw in diners from Worcester, Droitwich and beyond to this rural setting. In fact, when you’re in Cutnall Green, you can enjoy the delights of the village with historic houses, antiquing opportunities and plenty of walking trails.
If you arrive at The Chequers on Kidderminster Road early, you can sample the finer points of the great British breakfast – bacon, sausage, egg, beans, mushroom, tomatoes and hash browns – and if you get there for lunch, you can enjoy their sandwiches, pub lunch classics and stonebaked pizzas. Add to this a full evening menu, a bar stocked with superb wines and traditional cask ales and you’re well on your way to a great British night out. Book your table at The Chequers in Cutnall Green and make the journey in from Worcester, Droitwich or further afield for a superb meal. In fact, don’t just take our word for it: they’re listed in the AA Guide to the Best Pubs & Inns and Michelin’s Eating Out in Pubs Guide, so you know they’re top quality.
As usual an exceptional meal with the service to match, great value and the choices are excellent from the daily specials to the a la cart menu and for the cost this is all great value for the money.
It was a very pleasant experience , we enjoyed the meal, and will recommend to my friends and family, the service was excellent , we went on a Sunday lunchtime so it would be nice to see if it’s the same on a nighttime visit, con not fault it, brilliant
We really enjoyed our meal. All the dishes we had were delicious and well presented. The service was good. The music being played was to our taste, but we asked if the volume could be turned down and it was.
Once again a Fantastic breakfast - with exceptional service & a friendly atmosphere
We took my mother-in-law to the Chequers for the first time for her birthday on a busy Saturday evening. The service was very good and the food was excellent. I had the seabass which was delicious. My husband and I have been to the Chequers a couple of times now and have found the food to be extremely good. I usually chose the fish as it is excellent. The only point is that it is really necessary to book a table before your visit as it is always busy - a good sign!
Unfortunately we live about an hour away from The Chequers so our visits are only a few times a year, but yesterday's as always was excellent. The food choice and quality was superb, the staff are very friendly and welcoming and we all came away thinking we had thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Thank you and it is good to see that standards are still very high at The Chequers, as they were also at the Bell and Cross when you owned it.
We booked a table for four people on the occasion of my partner's birthday. We were made comfortable in the lounge area before being called through to our table. Between the four of us we ordered a variety of meals - two courses each. What a delicious meal we had! The service was excellent too. The Chequers is always our first choice for special occasions and it never disappoints - than you!
Horrible day with quite a covering of snow which this year seems to be doing a Columbo impersonation - leaving and then popping back with a "just one more thing" - but, as usual, excellent food and service and an amazingly warm atmosphere (especially had to giggle at 'Heatwave' by Martha Reeves and the Vandellas trilling from the speakers as we arranged a snowball fight with our waiter 😀)
Fantastic environment and great food. I worked at the chequers when I was 14, one of my first jobs I think, and when I walked in a barely recognised the place, its trendy and upmarket yet still has the feeling of a country pub. Food is equisite, a real explosion of flavour. My only suggestion would be complimentary bread and oils before starters and not as an optional starter
We visited the Chequers at Cutnall Green today to celebrate a friends birthday. 5 in total. We were very pleased with the welcome and service on arrival. There is a very comprehensive menu along with an interesting special's board. The food was extremely good and well presented. We all had two courses plus liqueur coffees. We could not fault anything and would highly recommend that you try this venue.
