A friendly Japanese face up Upper Thomson, on the edge of Ang Ko Mio, Tamako Meal is a restaurant that doesn’t like to over-complicate things. They seek to serve authentic Japanese cuisine in a family atmosphere – in fact, they like the idea that they offer up something for every member of the family to enjoy, from grandparents down to kids. That means proper Japanese food that gives a true taste of the old country – sushi, sashimi and the like – as well as good drinking dishes to distract dad for as long as possible: yakitori, of course. Kids will love their build-you-own bento boxes, packed with whatever treats take their fancy, and there’s even a full dessert list for the young and the young at heart. The only thing left to say is that you can find them on Casuarina Road in Ang Ko Mio on the outskirts of Singapore – now all you need to do is book a table!
great food but can tell there are new cost cutting measures in place
Overall a very nice experience... good food nice environment will definitely come and visit again. Reservation is recommended as it was crowded during dinner time
Table was setup & reserved even though i booked ard 30mins before arrival time only. Food was good as usual despite the crowd. Wil definitely booked through Quandoo & patronise the place again.
Great value, especially the signature bento set. It consists of many items and it's really worth the price. Service is great and the ambience is warm too. A good choice to dine with family and friends.
Decent Japanese food with reasonable price. I ordered the yakitori set which came in 5 sticks. I can choose any stick from the selection given such as chicken, pork, asparagus wrapped in bacon etc. It costs me $10.80 for that. Three sticks fell off the plate when the waiter delivered it to me, so only 2 sticks were served. Later I was given another 5 sticks again. So $10.80 for 7 sticks, I was too full on top of other things I had ordered. The waiting time can be a bit longer if it is full house.
Been here twice and will be back! This jap place has been around for many many years and they do have regular customers going back to them. Homely jap place for affordable jap food. Not the best but you will keep going back to them
Apparently the owner of Tamako Meal has acquired Sapachiro 2 doors away, and you can now sit at either restaurant and order from either one's menu. This means some degree of inefficiency as the servers are constantly going from one restaurant to the other, including carrying the food out from one to the other.
It located in at old Upper Thomson Road, located in the private estates. Near a busy street road, where it is very accessible by car. That day i went for a early lunch, it was more busy then i expected. Food was great.
Tamako has two outlet at Thomson. We booked online for ten adults. We were well taken care and on time with our dinner. The meals were as expected authentic Japanese. All of us had a good dining experience.
Nestled within the quiet neighbourhood of Casuarina Road, Tamako provides affordable, value-for-money Japanese food with quality. The teishoku comes with a fried prawn, 2 dumplings, potato salad, pork potato, edamame and your choice of fish. What a spread!
