About Soul

Dear diners, so this restaurant can best accommodate you, please indicate in the Special Requests field whether you would like a reservation for a meal or just for drinks.

This is where we go to heal our hurts. Or at least where we go when we want a fabulous cocktail in Aberdeen city centre. Soul is a bar that makes guests cross themselves when they enter, not least because it’s set in a former church on the corner of Union Street and Bon-Accord Street. Reconsecrated as a gathering place for refined drinks and soul food that walks the walk from British to American classics, the stunning venue has retained the stained glass windows and high ceilings of the original. On the mixology side, Soul boasts the biggest selection of rums in Aberdeen and a great range of regional Scotch whiskies. On the food side you can get creative with Asian dishes, classic with American hot dogs, or get comfortable with the Soul signature burger.

It was amazing. The food was good and the waiters really cheerful. Everything was great and we will back to the soul if we go back to Edinburgh.

Always great service combined with good food & drinks menu. A good all round classy pub with a buzzing atmosphere. If you can try to catch acoustic singer Myke Black who usually plays on a Saturday.

Food was excellent, great atmosphere, staff very good. they should not serve tonic from the mixer tap, only sell bottles, the only minus was the fact that the staff would sometimes give you bottles of tonic then other times they would give you the mixer tonic, , especially the waiter who was serving us he knew we were drinking gin and bottle tonic but then he would bring another gin with tonic from the mixer tap!!!!,. but we had a really good night. we would recommend Soul and we will go back.

Had a lovely lunch here after being given an itison voucher. There were plenty of places to sit, the place is huge. A lovely setting. The food on offer is high quality, an excellent and varied selection. We had the chocolate fondant for pudding and it was delicious. I would certainly go back to try a few other things on the menu, the choice is really high end for very affordable prices.

Yesterday we had a Christmas dinner booked for 8. Upon arrival, we were shown to our table. Everything looked great but before we could sit down another customer informed the staff that table was already taken. After checking the reservation, we had to wait whilst another table got set up, which was absolutely fine with us. This table was crammed next to the fire escape, which was open at the time meaning it was freezing cold, with no decorations, just a couple of menus. We complained at this point to our waitress as to why we hadn't received any crackers etc. We were swiftly ignored and from that point on nobody came to take any food orders. The manager looked over but even he ignored the situation. Even as we left to find somewhere else to eat nobody bothered to check if anything was wrong. Never had such bad service whenever we've been to Soul whether it's been for drinks or food. Extremely disappointed and won't be going back anytime soon.

Food was very good and service was pretty decent considering just a few wait staff for a few big tables. Only issue was the high prices for a lunch meal. There were only a tiny handful of "lunch" items available (soup and sandwich combo for £6) - everything else was at "all day prices." Would probably go more often if more extensive lunch menu available.

The food was lovely and the cocktails fab but the service was really poor. We ordered our food and it came quick enough but then took some time for the table to be cleared, for us to be asked if we wanted anything else and then we waited so long for anyone to come back to ask for the bill that we ended up just asking at the bar.
