We can’t quite put our finger on why French food is so delicious, but perhaps it has something to do with the sheer quantity of butter involved in the cooking process or the decadent ingredients used... Either way, French cuisine is the ultimate crowd-pleaser when it comes to eating out and that’s what makes Saveur at The Cathay a firm Singapore favourite of ours. Situated on Dhoby Ghaut’s Handy Road, this fabulous French spot has an excellent set lunch menu on offer of three courses for $22.90, and an evening set menu of three courses for $29.90. Good value and great food in Singapore? We’re sold.
If you’d rather eat a la carte you can pick some of Saveur at The Cathay’s French classics like beef bourguignon, steak frites or pork belly. Alternatively, if you want to try something a little out of the ordinary, order their duck confit burger complete with natural jus, melted cheddar, fried onions, bacon and served on a charcoal black bun. No matter what you order though, make sure you add a side of truffle mashed potato or sauteed crabmeat potato for a fully decadent experience. Ensure you leave some room for dessert as well, because Saveur at The Cathay’s salted caramel lava cake is the stuff dreams are made of. Go on, reserve a table at this Dhoby Ghaut hotspot today!

The restaurant serves Very nice food at reasonable price. However the decoration looks like a fast food restaurant and we were sitting in the direct setting sun and soaking in all the cooked smell.

The staff were very busy so it appeared they were understaffed for the dinner crowd and took a longer time to attend to us but staff were friendly and polite. The dish we wanted (duck confit) was sold out by the time we placed our orders but overall food was delicious and well plated. The crowd speaks of the popularity of the place and the food was up to standard:)

great food with reasonable price. the salmon confit starter was so goood. the sea bass was a tad salty but the duck confit was great. desserts were so great, hard to not lick the plate. service was prompt and the wait staff was friendly. however my reservation through quandoo did not get through for some weird reason.

The food quality was high but we waited 20mins for the saveur pasta to arrive with no updates in between. We had to enquire whether the kitchen missed our order and it was only then they checked and assured us that it was coming. Our duck confit arrived with 5 mins of ordering so I wish they had taken the initiative to let us know the status.

We had 4 different mains, which all were up to Saveur’s standard, only the truffle fries could be done better, not rich enough When we were settling our bill one of the waitress told us UOB card enjoys certain percentage of discount but when the bill came back with the the amount, the discount was not reflected and we had to advise again on it (two different staffs serving the bill)... and took awhile to void the charge to redo the settlement again

Not too crowded so service is fast. Ambiance is bright and open, suitable for youths, could do with more warmth e.g. lighting. Plants may make the restaurant look welcoming. A big wide window is wasted when it’s not used for some window visual e.g. seasonal decor. Food is great, though not as gd as outlet in Ion.

Service was ok with the restaurant not crowded at 7pm on a Sunday evening. The salmon confit starter ordered was a bit of a miss. The salmon was soft and broke apart easily. The salads were good. Two duck confits came and were quite good. At least it was better than my beef bourguignon which did not have enough stew and was on the dry side. The wines were ok. Overall it was value for money but nothing outstanding.
