It’s not just the Guggenheim anymore ﹘ people are now finding millions of reasons to visit the Spanish Basque lands and Atlantic frontier. The vast chunk of those reasons are food-related, fuelled by the recent, rapid ascension of multiple Michelin-starred restaurants from the area into the world’s top 50. But thanks to Roja Pinchos on Berry Street, Liverpool locals and visitors needn’t head towards Pamplona, Bilbao or San Sebastian, because they have the best part of Basque cuisine right here in the Ropewalks, where you can discover just how much deliciousness can be packed onto one wooden stick.
Roja Pinchos, on Berry Street, is Liverpool’s first bar to specialise in the northern Spanish version of the much wider known tapas. But while one or two tapas may constitute a meal, half a dozen or more scrumptious pinchos can happily accompany a lovely Spanish wine or good beer without stuffing the stomach, meaning you can enjoy a variety of tasty treats. Roja Pinchos keeps you on your toes with an ever-changing pinchos menu, so you can be sure of something new each time ﹘ what you can’t be so sure about is a spare seat, so be sure to book for this popular, authentic Spanish experience in the Ropewalks!
Excellent quality food and its up there with the Pinchos we have had travelling around Spain. I can highly recommend this restaurant and if your in the area you should definitely check it out.
Very nice food, relaxed friendly atmosphere and a different range of flavours to what is available in any of the Castilian or Catalan tapas restaurants in liverpool. Also very reasonably priced.
Lovely little place with a nice ambience, the service was amazing and the food was fantastic. Best small plates in Liverpool. Can't wait to return!
Great food, great wine and wonderfully helpful staff, can't ask for more. Will be back soon with friend s and family. Loved it so much
I enjoyed the overall experience, service was lovely and it was lively and bustling when we went, possibly due to the 'Unlimited pinchos and Cava' offer we had gone for (£30). I wasn't a massive fan of the food, I liked that you could choose from the counter in an authentic San Sebastian way, and there were some lovely pinchos but a lot of them relied heavily on chorizo so there wasn't as much variety as I'd hoped. As I say, it was authentic but I prefer the 'Anglicised' tapas that you get at Salt House Tapas or, the fantastic La Lunya where their passion for their produce shines.
Fabulous food, friendly knowledgable staff. Having spent a lot of time in Northern Spain and having Pinchos there our expectations where high. Roja Pinchos meet and exceeded our hopes. Will definitely go again.
Loved our meal at Roja Pinchos, the service was really friendly and amazing, the food was varied, super tasty and reasonably priced, will be going back there again!
We thought there would have been more of a selection of ponchos on the bar to choose from ..the ones that were available were 2 goats cheese ones and the otheres were fish based ..no chorizo ones and only the traditional tortilla ...the hot pinchos was good as was the tapas ...would visit again but would be prepared to eat more tapas than pinchos
Tonight I had the most amazing food in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. There was a slight issue with the bill including some stuff we hadn't had but the staff sorted it quickly with no problem and a smile. Will definitely be going back! Xx
Delicious food, which just kept coming! We went on bank holiday Sunday and paid £15 extra to upgrade to bottomless cava. Unlike a lot of places, there was no catch! The staff constantly walked round topping up your glass. Would definitely recommend!
Restaurant did not know about my reservation!! Awkward!! Food was delicious and would revisit Roja Pinchos again but would ring to make booking next time.
Lovely food and a variety on offer.Waiter was really lovely and helpful.different priced Pinchos either £1.50 or £3.the choice of £1.50 Pinchos was small and I don't like cheese and they all had cheese on.more variety of these would be good.however, the choice of £3 Pinchos was great and really tasty.
The staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating, nothing was too much trouble. We had a selection of cold pinchos and then 6 hot pinchos between us- the mushroom croquettes were absolutely lovely!! All very tasty, overall a great lunch.
Great food. Great service. In fact our waitress was one of the best I've come across in the city. Nothing too much trouble. Attentive without being fussed over. Never had a bad experience here. Highly recommended. A hidden gem
Welcomed at door and seated quickly, drinks served quick whilst we decided on order, food presented great but more importantly tasted delicious + reasonable prices. Slight mix up with order however was handled excellently
Lovely food, great staff. A nice place to go for a meal where you can eat as much or as little as you like. Ideal when going out for a few drinks afterwards.
Lovely atmosphere and attentive staff. The Pinchos varieties were very interesting. We had the Sunday special which is good value for money. Bit disappointed that quite a lot of the Gins were not available. Well worth a visit
Faultless service and amazing food. So authentic and the food is just wonderful. We had some reasonably priced wine and cava and we were just so impressed with the whole restaurant.
Food is always delicious, great choice of drinks. The staff are always friendly and will do their best to accommodate special requests. Very authentic food and great all round experience.
Very nice food and staff very friendly and helpful. I'm not sure they knew about my booking but it was quiet anyway so we got a table. Thought it was a bit expensive but nice food!
Lovely evening, on Sunday's they have a £15 menu that is all you can eat including a glass of cava. The staff were friendly and helpful. The food was lovely, specifically the sea bass 👍
Nice meal, a touch on the slow side as they had a big party in. That was fine as its tapas but they could've just let us know as soon as we sat down instead of 30 mins in. Really tasty pinchos though.
The food was amazing and the staff were lovely. Very helpful with great recommendations. We will definitely be going back soon and will recommend to family and friends.
Great food and great service, they had solt out if the croquetas but we had some of the specials instead which more than made up for it . Will definitely be going again!
Lovely place. It was recommended by a friend and I'm so glad it was. I've never had pinchos before, but I will again! We'll deffo go back.
Food was, as always delicious. Service was second to none. Our waiter was attentive and knew his stuff!! Nothing was too much trouble. Cannot wait to return.
I have been to this restaurant 5 times and have always enjoyed it. It has a relaxed atmosphere , staff are friendly and pinchos are lovely and value for money. Would recommend.
Absolutely amazing food. So simple yet so satisfying! It's a must visit. Favourite thing on the menu was the salmon, mashed potato and creamed spinach. PERFECTION.
An original restaurant with experimental pinchos fusion food and superb service. They are always trying out new ideas and really care about the food they serve.
Lovely restaurant! Food was delicious and authentic tapas! Unlimited tapas on a Sunday is a great idea as you get to try different things you may not normally order x
Booked this for my Husband's Birthday after reading a great review in the Guardian. Was not disappointed - lovely food, great service, superb evening :)
Lovely food and the staff are incredible. Wine choice is great and the whole experience feels authentic with great value for money. Cannot recommend enough.
Food was excellent, fast service and a nice quiet little place. Will definitely be going again. I recommend the goats cheese and padron peppers! 😃
Fantastic food and service. Great atmosphere and laid back. Sunday is worth a visit - unlimited pinchos and a glass of Cava - £15 pp.
Excellent meal last night, they'd run Out of a couple of options but plenty to choose from and just shows how fresh the food is! Will definitely return!
Food 6 out of 6, just could have done with more staff on probably in the kitchen to help things flow a bit smoother - everything else brilliant - will go again.
Have been wanting to try this place for a while as it has been positively reviewed. Lived up to expectations! Will definitely return, very soon.
The food was lovely but they had lots of dishes out of stock and with a small menu that was a shame. Service was ok staff were friendly.
Good: spotlessly clean wc. Very friendly, welcoming and helpful serving person. Good wine, beer & coffee. Not so good: weather had suddenly become cold and place was somewhat chilly. Food tasty but very pricey for tiny portions.
Had a bottle of cava and a few pinchos. Nice atmosphere. Food was tasty. Staff attentive
Poor quality food little or no taste, small potions. The salmon was tasteless if the restaurant wants to survive they will need to improve their cuisine. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
