About Revolver Upstairs / Colonel Tans

Having a Revolver Upstairs is usually the sign of a paranoid mind and, probably, an American address, but in the case of Revolver Upstairs on Chapel Street in Prahran, it means something altogether more appealing. They offer live bands, international DJs and a top-notch Thai menu at their in-house eatery, Colonel Tan’s, packed with favourites from all over South East Asia. Take a trip to Prahran station and indulge in one of the finest multi-arts venues in Melbourne: just remember to book your table ahead of time.

More about Revolver Upstairs / Colonel Tans, Prahran

A multi-arts venue with an emphasis on creative cuisine, Colonel Tan’s at Revolver Upstairs attempts to have it’s cake – a rice cake, probably, given the Thai menu – and eat it too. To go along with the tasty Southeast Asian cuisine, Revolver Upstairs also provide live music every night of the week, so there are few reasons to move from these Prahran premises during the course of a night out. You can find them right on Chapel Street, just a short walk from Prahran station, which is only a really a short hop out of Melbourne’s CBD, making them well worth the journey if you fancy a feed, a drink, a dance, or all of the above.

Revolver Upstairs (and Colonel Tan’s) is part-owned by Thai pop star Tan Punturaunporn, and thus it isn’t surprising to hear that their menu down on Chapel Street is replete with recipes from Thailand. Begin with the betel leaf salad or the deep-fried chilli squid, and follow it up with a classic green chicken curry or a stir-fried pork belly with kaffir lime and red curry. You’re guaranteed to be stuffed by the time you leave Prahran, but do try and find space for a cocktail or two while you’re at Revolver Upstairs.

Love this place! We are regulars for Thursday locals nights. We love to take friends along too. Staff are usually great, we’ve had one disappointing experience but in about 20 visits that is not bad odds. Food is ALWAYS perfect.

Always a great time at this venue. The Thai food is incredible. We nearly get the 5 spice friedchicken every time we come here. The new snapper mains are also very delicious. I prefer the Freid Snapper with BokChoy and Tamarind sauce. Cannot wait for the next time!
