Our visit to Paul was lovely, great service received and fine food
I read many of the negative reviews just a day before I completed my Quandoo reservation at Paul. I was half-hearted but since I would be in the area, I decided to give it a try, with not much expectations of the service. The server who was going to sit me was a smiley young lady. She didn't have my reservation but told me it's ok as they have seats. I insisted that she checked as I do get points for my reservation. Checked with senior staff, problem solved. Both forgot to give me the menu and I waved to ask for it. Order was taken promptly and my questions on the Soup of the Day and the dessert was answered there & then. Food was served & cleared in a timely manner. The set lunch is value for money, highly recommended! I won't mind going back there again.
The staff may be very busy at the moment we stepped into the restaurant due to a big crowd the day we visited but she was reassuring and even bother to remember provide us a window seat as we requested in Quandoo. Through we stood waiting for approximately 10 minutes, she got us a seat whenever the seat was ready.
It is a busy afternoon. I appreciate the manager is very hardworking in clearing up the table fast so that the queuing customers are able to get seated. The brunch is excellent and it is value for money. Pleasant experiences and we will definitely be back.
Service here was surprisingly disappointing. I made a booking for 13 pax and as we arrived 10mins before the booking, they shared the space is not available and not only that they have not figured out where we will be seating exactly. So they told us to wait and asked if we could do separate seating. To me of course we would not want that otherwise what is the point for booking for 13pax if we cannot seat together. However I wasn’t left with much of a choice. Everything else plus food fell short of our expectations and the service without a smile was truly disappointing. I use to always dine at Paul’s, thus I recommended my team to have a farewell lunch here however after this experience I will not be returning again to this outlet.
As always Paul’s food is fabulous - a fairly reliable European style snack or meal. The service was not so good I star gave the impression of being understaffed, and disorganized and untrained For example I was given a tablespoon with which to eat soup 😱 It may be helpful for the management to think of ways to support their charming-young-front-of-house staff to provide a more efficient and stress free service
It was during a public holiday so the restaurant was busy but overall experience was fine. Food and drinks were okay though can be more comparable to Paul in France.
