A soldering iron, an iron chef, and a pair of chopsticks walk into a bar. ‘Sharing is caring’ they announce, and all the sage mixologist behind the bar has to do is nod. This is Neho Asian Tapas, an exciting addition to the ever-evolving restaurant scene in Perth whose forte is fusing Asian cuisines – Southeast Asian flavours in the main, with a liberal sprinkling of Chinese, Japanese, and Korean – in the Spanish small-plate we know and love. The result means something new for adventurous foodies to get stuck into, and with an Albany Highway location in Victoria Park, this neon-lit temple of culinary fusion is packed around the clock.
Neho Asian Tapas is an experimental and much needed addition to the Perth culinary landscape. They specialise in invention and creativity to bring a unique take to Asian fusion inspired by the Spanish tapas culture. Located in Victoria Park, this Perth foodie haven blends Southeast Asian, Japanese and Korean flavours to excite palettes and cultivate a special kind of dining experience. The team behind Neho also have a love affair with all things lost in translation, adding signs translated into Chinese English around the cosy space – our favourite being ‘please present your octopus’.
With a plethora of unique sharing dishes on offer, go for the feed me option where you sit back and let the chefs make your decision for you – perfect for those who are up for anything and keen to share among friends, just the way tapas is intended. With a funky and fresh design complete with neon accents, exposed brick and newspapered walls, Neho Asian Tapas is buzzing. With a location on Albany Highway in Victoria Park, this Asian fusion restaurant is a gastronomic delight – be sure to book ahead.
My favourite restaurant- the food is flavoursome and tasty. Nice modern Asian cuisine. Service is always good and the owner/manager has always been on site when we have eaten there. I do recommend you try it out. Restaurant can be noisy when fully booked and hoon car drivers on Albany highway are annoying.
Great restaurant, fourth time we have visited. Special set menu for Valentines day was amazing, mushy taco's were a standout dish. Service prompt especially considering it was a highly booked evevning, look forward to the next visit
We absolutely love the food here. The Beef Rendang is amazing. There are a few vegetarian options which is good and we always leave felling totally stuffed.
The service and food are excellent. Third time I have been to Neho. The chefs choice is was amazing and generous. We will be going again soon.
What we expect from Neho was nothing out of the ordinary, however, their dishes have prove me wrong. We ordered Macau Pork Sliders, Mushi Tacos, Korean Spicy Lamb Ribs and Tea Smoke Duck; I cannot express my feelings that every single dish was fantastic, Tea Smoke Duck and Macau Pork Sliders definitely surprised me. The biggest highlight of the dish is the Pandacotta, as a fellow Malaysian, there's no other restaurant that not only have the fragrance right, but after taking one bite, it is without the doubt of the best dessert dishes I experienced. On top of it all, the Lime Coconut Granita gives a tangy flavour that refreshes your taste bud after taking a bite of the silky and creamy Pandacotta. We have a fantastic time dining at Neho, as the quality of all dishes had exceeded my expectations. As a fan of Asian fusion dishes, you can expect me to return here in a heartbeat.
Fantastic unique food! Absolutely delicious asian fusion style dishes served in a low-key but trendy cafe style venue, meat is perfectly cooked and tender, vegies are crisp and flavours are full of herbs and authentic spices, they obviously use high quality ingredients and don't cheat customers with cheap options. By far the best deal is the 'feed me' chef's choice menu, which is $55 per person and offers an extremely plentiful array of mouth watering dishes, almost too much to fit in by the time dessert lands on the table, but who's going to let any of that incredible food go to waste, not us!!! Definitely one of the best restaurants in Perth.
We were a table of 4 on a Thursday evening, booked on-line. The booking was promptly confirmed and the restaurant's policy regarding timing was clearly spelled out on the website. The restaurant ambience was friendly and quirky, with numerous hilarious signs depicting inaccurate English translations of Chinese notices. The menus printed on paper place mats contributed to a casual atmosphere, although service at our table was prompt and attentive. The courses we ordered were delivered within a reasonable time-frame and well presented. The pork sliders were sensational to the point we ordered a second serving; all of the other dishes were good (although the rendang beef ribs didn't quite live up to the hype). One note of discord was the over-priced drinks list - we fail to accept that fair to average wines and sparklings should be offered at prices over $40 per bottle, or $12 per glass, with no BYO option. This detracted from an otherwise enjoyable casual dining experience.
Was pretty quiet but not all too surprising for a Sunday winter's night. Polite and accommodating service. There was a very loud table next to us and we asked to be moved and they did it straight away. Heard lots about the tea smoked duck and tried it tonight - it is presented to be eaten like peking duck and hence my expectation and comparison with peking duck and to this I did not enjoy it as much. The pancakes were thicker, the skin on the duck was not crispy and the fat on duck not rendered properly. The duck itself was good. The pork belly skewers tasted good, had a good sauce but was just too fatty. I prefer when eating fat that it melts in your mouth and this did not. Had the dumplings, broccoli salad and the c4 (dessert) and they were all ok, nothing I will run back to.
Great food, really innovative fusion of Asian and other cuisines. Service was friendly and the price was very reasonable. What did leave a sour taste was the response when we asked to split payment of the bill 50/50 between each couple - a flat “no you used entertainment card”. What? We simply wanted to halve the bill and pay by two cards - including the surcharge they also charge. It makes no difference to them as a business. Given that they use commonwealth banks “Albert” eftpos system which features split billing it was a very inflexible response. It really made the difference between a definitely will be back and maybe going somewhere more flexible next time.
What a great little restaurant. Staff very attentive and friendly. We went with the chef's choice and all of the dishes went down a treat, not one of the 7 people at the table (ages 12 - 75) had anything negative to say. The mocktails were tasty, with a few choices, offered an alternative to the non-drinkers. We are all bored with the same old menus offered by fine dining restaurants in Perth - the same 5 dishes dressed up with foreign names, and really enjoyed the variety f tastes and textures on offer her. P.S Don't leave without trying the deserts.
