About Masala Bazaar

Carlisle is a long way from Kolkata and Chennai, but in the town centre, one can find an authentic taste of India. On Botchergate, just across from the main train station, there is Masala Bazaar, an Indian restaurant with an emphasis on the street food traditions of the many states and cities of the subcontinent, with diverse dishes that are not regularly seen elsewhere. We’d recommend the sizzler selection, served with no little drama at your table, featuring grilled meats such as Scottish salmon, lamb chops, king prawns and more. The house specialties at Masala Bazaar are equally as decadent, with venison vindaloo, pork chop bhooni and duck coated with spices and seared in the pan. They have plenty of the classics of the Indian curry tradition – as well as plenty of vegetarian dishes – so all of your party can try out their favourites, whether they are newbies or curry cognoscenti. Book a table now to reserve the best seat in Carlisle town centre.

Fantastic meal, love the different menu. The staff were very attentive and polite. I took a group of friends that hadn't visited the restaurant before, they were very impressed. We will be back.

Excellent service and beautiful food. This place never fails to live up to expectations. Many of our friends use this as their first choice for Indian food in Carlisle. Keep up the great standards !

The restaurant is central to the shops, pubs and other restaurants. Its modern and airy, plenty of space between tables. The staff were friendly and we were served promptly. However the food was a let down,we couldn't detect any spices, garlic, ginger or chilli, the word bland will adequately describe all the dishes we had,the only item we enjoyed were the naan breads, which were large and very tasty. Would not return as we both enjoy spicy food and that's just didn't get delivered.

Great food, with many dishes not seen at the average "Indian" restaurant. If we visit Carlisle again, we will definitely return to the Masala Bazaar.

Service and welcome was good. Food seemed high quality but was lacking in spice. My meal was rated 2 chillies a friends was rated 3. Both dishes had zero spice. I'm not big on how hot chillies are but it was almost like they had forgotten to add the chillies. Other than that the food was good.
