Magic Mountain Saloon – one of the stable of Melbourne favourites that includes Revolver Upstairs, Cookie, The Toff in Town and Boney – is fast becoming a breakfast classic in the CBD of the Victorian capital. Their recipe down on Little Collins Street isn’t complicated, but it’s easy to see why it works: the great Australian brekkie, fused with classic Thai ingredients and flavours to create something new and unique. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, or so we’re told at least, but it can often be a little staid. There’s only so many smashed avos and bacon & eggs that one can take before one starts to hanker after something a little bit more adventurous. Enter Magic Mountain Saloon. They offer up the classics of the breakfast genre, but with a Thai twist, offering something new and interesting to the Melbourne public from their address on Little Collins Street in the CBD.
Take a trip over to Parliament station and wander around the corner to Little Collins Street and Magic Mountain Saloon. Their menu includes Thai takes on the Australian breakfast: think daikon hash browns, crispy pork, celery and egg salad, chicken and kaffir lime Scotch egg, and the Asian brekkie staple of congee. They offer a whole range of evening meals as well, so don’t just go for breakfast: after all, cocktails aren’t just a breakfast drink. Book yourself a table now in Melbourne CBD.
Went with a friend for a quick dinner before a movie. Great food, great service. Our waiter suggested a vegetarian variation on one of their usual dishes which was delicious.
Our waiter was awesome, really helpful, friendly, had a good laugh with him. Food was great, also lovely cocktails. The booth upstairs was also a great place to sit.
