The Joy family of restaurants have been around on the south coast since the mid-90s, and it isn’t hard to see how they have achieved such longevity in the competitive curry house scene. Their commitment to fresh ingredients, well-blended spices and time-honoured traditional recipes is the foundation of their success, and if you wander along Charminster Road in Bournemouth as far as Joy, then you can find out all about it yourself. Their starters are spectacular – duck rolls, Punjabi lamb samosa, onion bhaji – and their gourmet Indian specialities are well worth the visit on their own: lamb naga, with the iconic Bengali chilli pepper, king prawns cooked in Goan jaggery (mace), coconut and curry leaves and Chennai scallops with tamarind and fenugreek. There are curry houses in Bournemouth and then there is Joy on Charminster Road – so gather up your family and friends and book your table today.
