About JINzakaya

The award-winning Les Amis Group’s JINzakaya is a laidback enclave that recalls old Tokyo train station pubs, offering Singapore locals the chance to drink and dine in proper Japanese izakaya fashion. This animated bar and restaurant is a fashionable but casual space, known for its affordable set lunches ideal for workers, tasty sharing plates, yakimono skewers and an impressive sake selection. Set right next to sister concept Sushi Jin, the restaurant is easy to reach, too, just off Rangoon Road on the pedestrian backstreet of Farrer Park Station Road, close to the bustle of Serangoon Road in Little India. Kanpai!

More about JINzakaya, Singapore

Japanese cuisine comes in many forms, and at JINzakaya in Singapore’s Little India they’re working hard to create the very best. And workers close to Rangoon Road and the backstreet of Farrer Park Station Road (where you’ll find this izakaya) will appreciate the effort: set lunches like the signature JIN tori ramen with chargrilled chicken and an onsen egg are always popular, as is the katsu curry with Jinzakaya’s special curry gravy and the healthy sake harashu with fresh garden greens, salmon belly and a homemade ponzu dressing. The price is fantastic, and each set lunch main comes with a hot or cold hojicha.

When evening rolls around and local workers start looking for a place to decompress with colleagues, JINzakaya’s yakimono skewers begin to make a whole lot of sense. Choose from 19 varieties of delicious grilled skewers and ten main dishes, from classic chicken thighs and mid-wing joint skewers to indulgent foie gras and MBS 4 Wagyu sticks. Grilled mains like the bacon-wrapped king prawns and the generous slab of medium-rare MBS 8 Australian Wagyu steak are recommended options. At this popular Japanese izakaya in Singapore’s Little India, the open charcoal grill kitchen is a visual and olfactory centrepiece, but don’t forget the sashimi and salads, noodles and desserts, and the beer, shochu and sake list, broken down from sweet to dry, affordable to premium prices!

Good qualty food and good selection of sake for the customers to choose from. Small and comfy environment, not overly cramped or crowded. Nice for a gathering with friends

The restaurant sits inside the connexion building. A small yet conducive ambience with excellent service. The serving staff are always attentive towards customers. We specially love the beef short rib and chicken thigh! Thumbs up for that!! Thanks for the fond memories on our anniversary :) Great choice indeed!

Food, ambience and service was great! Particularly love the scallop and pork belly skewers - so juicy and delicious! Indeed a hidden gem in Farrer Park.

It's our third time at JINzakaya and we're fans of the yakitori here. Some people might think that the selection is limited compared to other yakitori places, but we feel that JINzakaya do what they do really well. We've tried many dishes on their menu and so far they have yet to disappoint!

We celebrated our friend's birthday here and were pleasantly surprised the staff helped to arrange her 12 mini cupcakes in a lovely nice heart shape pattern! Thanks for the effort, we appreciate it very much. We wanted fugu mirin but Jinzakaya didn't have it. However quick thinking staff told us he'd check with the restaurant next door and order it for us. It was so yummy, we ordered another serving. Very good service overall. Food wise, we liked everything we ordered - especially the marugoto tomato, ika maruyaki

We decided to try JINzakaya as we were craving for some yakitori. Everything that we ordered turned out to be amazing, whether it was yakitori, the rice bowl or the grilled unagi. The service was really good, too! Will definitely be back.

There were some hits and misses... Nice ambience and decoration (sake lights and japanese posters. Server's premium sake recommendation was good and sake cups were really pretty. We enjoyed the baked potato very much. The chef was heavy handed with salt which was later moderated after our feedback. Only the yakimono was changed but the ika we had to still finish it though it was salty. The yakimono offering was rather limited; no chicken liver etc. We were also a bit surprised that the complimentary appetizers and ebi were quite a small portion. Overall a nice place to dine but there are many other well established izakayas in Singapore. For sustainability, restaurant needs to come up with more interesting promotions or menu.

The grilled items did not disappoint. Must try (in my opinion) are the grilled oysters. The oysters are wrapped in pork belly and a silver of lettuce, which complimented and brought out the sweetness of the oysters. Also tried the King Prawn with Uni sauce. Dish was slightly pricey at $25 for 1 prawn, but the prawn was fresh and perfectly cooked. Uni sauce had a tad too much mayo for my liking. Overall, food quality was high. Quite a good selection of sakes as well. Worth a visit!

Celebrating a friend's birthday there. Staff was very nice to take our cake to put on a plate & decorated with fruits & even put a candle on it for us! Friends had great reviews for the skewers. Chirashi don was a little smaller than usual size but it's a good sized carbs when paired with skewers.
