A gourmet restaurant with sleek contemporary furnishings and an enviable city centre location, Jam could easily content itself with being one of Liverpool’s very best casual fine-dining eateries. However, this new venue on Sir Thomas Street goes much further than that, offering hearty brunches, exquisite afternoon tea sets and sensational cocktails, all with the same eye for detail and dashes of creativity as their first-class dinner menu. Book a table now and head on into the city centre to try them out for yourself.

Jam has given Liverpool city centre something it has been missing – even if few may have felt the longing before it arrived. A very attractive contemporary venue in a recently refurbished building on Sir Thomas Street, Jam evolves from a buzzing brunch spot to a top-shelf teahouse to a gourmet restaurant to a stylish cocktail bar as the day wears on. Unlike other places that try to do it all, however, the quality of Jam’s food and service does not suffer from trying to be a jack of all trades – in fact, they are masters of all.
Each and every brunch dish at Jam on Sir Thomas Street is photo-worthy, from a colourful breakfast of eggs avocado to their lunch-worthy Asian duck breast salad topped with chilli, spring onion, cucumber, peanut, mixed leaves and honey dressing. Afternoon tea is a real treat here, and as you may have guessed they make probably Liverpool’s tastiest homemade jams, which star on scones arranged on tiered platters with just the right amount of kitsch but more cool. The gourmet dinner menu rolls out finely tuned contemporary creations like their salmon fishcakes with wholegrain mustard dressing, 8oz rump steak or the classic cottage pie. Jam is a superb addition to Liverpool city centre’s dining scene, and it’s already essential to book if you want to find out what the fuss is about.
We had excellent food and service, good value. Attentive staff, tasty cakes, sandwiches first class, quality coffee and tea - go!Afternoon tea well recommended. .Monday 20th Feb 2017
The place was actually empty when we arrived, and apart from ourselves, remained so for the entire evening. Simply cannot understand why though. The environment was vibrant but not gaudy. The service was excellent (as one might expect considering there was only us to serve), and although we did enjoy their full attention, our waitress was never intrusive. The food we chose was quite simple (burgers and ice cream sundaes), but was presented wonderfully and tasted just as good, for example the burger was gorgeously juicy and the home made chips especially pleased my partner. We both had gluten free options, due to my requirements, but neither of us could really notice any difference. Overall, we were both so impressed with our evening at Jam Cafe and will DEFINITELY visit again the next time we're in Liverpool. I believe the afternoon teas are worth trying.
Loved our afternoon tea at Jam, can't wait to go again! Food was lovely, staff very friendly and chatty. The decor is amazing. Will definitely be going again soon l.
First time in jam and received a very warm welcome. The decor was fantastic. Food was lovely and the staff were extremely friendly, nothing was too much trouble. Very reasonable priced.
We found Jam on the Coeliac Sanctuary listings for Liverpool and could not have been happier. Literally one of the best breakfasts we have ever had. My so and I had the Eggs Benedict and Eggs Royal (Eggs Benedict but with Salmon) and the hollandaise sauce was the best I have ever had. My wife hat the Colombian Eggs, and my daughter a scrambled eggs and bacon sandwich. All were spectacular. Wish we were staying in Liverpool longer so we could try dinner there. A definite must for anyone, especially if you are gluten free. Non food related, the music was great.
Although the service was very friendly and helpful, it did feel rather slow. There was no explanation of what was being served for afternoon tea or of the choice of teas available which was a "selling point" on the website. The food was generally ok, however the scones were extremely disappointing - they were very heavy, dense and cake-like not the normal texture expected at all (the jam was delicious!). I hope these points are addressed because "Jam" could be an even better venue for afternoon tea.
My three friends and I went for the prosecco afternoon tea and it was wonderful. The location is calm and comfortable with very helpful staff. The food was delicious and they catered perfectly for one of our dietary needs. I would thoroughly recommend Jam, a lovely experience.
This new restaurant is all gluten free, which is great, as I have coeliac disease. Jam is decorated very tastefully and very comfortable. The food was great, the only criticism is that the main meal came a few minutes after finishing the starter. The staff were very helpful and friendly. We shall certainly go there again.
Great restaurant, excellent staff and service.. Will definitely recommend especially as it has a good gluten free menu which was the reason why we chose to go there. We took my mum who can only eat gluten free food, she was in food heaven. It's the first time she's eaten proper fish and chips since her diagnosis almost eight years ago, she's craved for it all this time, so it made her day as the food was fabulous. Will be making many more visits to this restaurant in the future.
It was perhaps unfortunate that there were two large parties in the restaurant so it was very noisy although there weren't many other people there and I had a large booth to myself. The lighting was very bright and even with the retro decor I can't say there was any ambience. I ordered beetroot smoked salmon which honestly didn't taste of anything although the celeriac remoulade was very nice. I ordered chicken stuffed with mushroom and wrapped in Parma Ham. It was very tasty but not hot enough and quite dry so I asked for more of the "jus". The service was excellent considering the two big parties. Not sure I would go back but worth a visit.
We visited on Sunday lunchtime, 7 girlfriends for brunch. However, we were extremely disappointed with our overall experience at Jam, not least with the food. To start, the restaurant was cold, then a couple of us ordered coffees (2 flat whites) which were also cold and had to be sent back. We then ordered food, which again was cold despite us each ordering different dishes. We informed the manager, saying we didn't want to send the food back due to not wanting it microwaved. He did apologise and said he would have a word with the chef because there was no excuse to be made for the temperature of the food as the restaurant was far from busy. During this conversation though, he did use some profanity which I found both unprofessional and inappropriate. One good aspect of the service was that my friend didn't like her food and he offered to change it for something else of her choosing. Overall though, I am disappointed. We won't be returning or recommending the restaurant to our friends and family. As a gesture of goodwill, I feel that we could have been offered some drinks, to compensate for our disappointment with the temperature of the food or there could have been a deduction made from the final bill.
went for my birthday afternoon tea with 3 friends, one coeliac - as am I - and 2 others. The service was great and we were looked after so well. the tea was superb,. I asked for a veggie version and it was delicious. Everything single thing was great, tasty and fresh. I will certainly be back. (this was my 2nd visit). Next time maybe we will come for dinner who knows!!
After reading reviews of Jam, we decided to give it a try. Our food was really good and the prices were reasonable. They also had great wine and beer selection. Would recommend.
Really lovely desserts and scones. Although the sandwiches were nice they definitely needed more filling. Was shocked that for extra tea you had to pay £3 a pot. Every other afternoon tea I've been to has been unlimited tea. The place was really nice and clean and the service was excellent. The man who waited on us was very pleasant and chatty and explained the food and teas brilliantly.
Fantastic atmosphere. Very helpful, attentive waiting staff. Great food. Lots of choice. The desserts were amazing. A boon for Coeliacs as no worry about contamination and it was easy to feed our 5 year old Coeluac daughter from the menu. A recommendation for gluten-free-ers and for those with no dietary restrictions. Just great food.
Fab food...good services..enjoyed the procecco tea..would deffo go again to try the rest of the menu..lovely setting with nice lighting...well done Jam 5 stars 😊😊😊😊
