Given the current climate surrounding COVID-19, many authorities are placing restrictions on social gatherings. In the best interest of everyone’s safety, we are continuously updating the availability of our partner restaurants to reflect these measures. We encourage people to still support the restaurant industry in other ways.Learn how
Singapore’s House Of Commons is not to be confused with the parliamentary apparatus, but you can count on them as legislators of what constitutes an exceptional cup of coffee. House Of Commons seeks out the best beans available, roasting them locally and deliberately darker than is usual for single-origin beans, making for an Italian-style espresso that’s rich and full, with no bitterness and less caffeine. House Of Commons’ Owen Road address in Little India (best reached from Farrer Park station) is also a fine purveyor of gourmet cafe food, teas, milkshakes, and iced coffee.
Ambience was great. Coffee was good. They don't open on time as it stated on their website. Car-park is an hassle, as you need to park at the nearest hdb block a stone away.
Super friendly owner Raj. The sandwiches were quality, and the coffee was the highlight. We will also be going back for the Archipelago on tap!
The secret behind House Of Commons’ famously good coffee is the fact that this Singapore cafe chooses to roast its beans darker than normal, resulting in an Italian-style espresso that’s far less bitter and also less caffeinated, if you’re into that kind of thing. Here along Owen Road, at the Farrer Park end of the Little India neighbourhood, Commons promises to stick to classic espresso, eschewing other brewing techniques like filter or siphon methods, aeropress or French presses, even for their iced lattes or mochas, which never see a watery ice cube either.
Besides some of Singapore’s best coffee, House Of Commons also do a great line in boutique teas, including organic chamomile and the exotic pomegranate vanilla lemur tea, made with real lemurs. If you’re looking for something indulgent or simply a way to cool down your alimentary canal after hitting the many curry houses around Little India and Farrer Park, go for the Nutella milkshake or the Pink Lady’s Pledge, an iced rose milk drink. Gourmet sandwiches, salads, fish and chips and chicken nuggets, and melt-in-your-mouth Belgian chocolate crepes or American pancakes are also on offer if you’re feeling peckish.
