I haven't been to the Forge for an awful long time, not deliberately,I hasten to add.We were thinking of somewhere different to go for my daughters 16th birthday.!So I booked a table for Saturday evening,it was brilliant !The menu was extensive, and we could have eaten every dish!My husband opted for the Lambs liver dish which he thoroughly enjoyed,my Mother-in-law&I both went for fish dishes, lemon sole&sea bass respectively, delicious. My daughter plumped for the gammon steak,it was fit for a King! The staff were really friendly&pleasant,we are definitely going back before Christmas! Hats off to all those who work at The Forge.
A great night where the food, drink, service and atmosphere were superb not rushed but the stall were very attentive to ensure if you needed anything it was sorted. A very professional operation made to feel very welcome and a fair price for what was some very tasty food .
Party of 6 and all our meals were just perfect. An Extensive menu choice including very reasonably priced 2 or 3 course specials of the day. The service was good as always.
The food was absolutely gorgeous. We had scallops to start and then rump steak. We really enjoyed our experience and are looking forward to going again.
Forge Brasserie is a hidden gem, off the beaten track. Succulent steaks, fabulous "specials" and delicious desserts. Meat Night on a Tuesday offers 20% off the prices of the steaks. There is a similar "Fish Night" on Thursdays. Knowledgeable, attentive staff and attractive surroundings make the Forge a pleasant venue for a quiet meal for two or a larger party.
arrived early for our reservation but were made very welcome and promptly given menus together with full explanation of the day's special offers. Being Thursday, it was a "Fish Day" which delighted us as we are both fish lovers. My wife ordered Lemon Sole, off the bone, whilst I ordered Sea Bass, on the bone. Unfortunately, we had to complain about the sole, but we were immediately offered an alternative, and my wife opted for Hake which was superb. My Sea Bass was also excellent. Having visited this restaurant on a number of occasions, this was the first time we have found any reason to make a complaint and we were very impressed by the manner in which it was dealt with. So much that we made a reservation for a repeat visit with a party of friends.
FIRST TIME GOING TO THE FORGE, ALWAYS HEARD GOOD REPORTS FROM VARIOUS PEOPLE. THEY WERE RIGHT. IT WAS MY HUSBANDS BIRTHDAY AND BEING ON A MONDAY NIGHT I FOUND IT HARD TO PICK OUT A PLACE TO EAT THAT WOULDNT BE TOO QUIET AND EMPTY BOOKED THE FORGE WHICH WAS JUST AS WELL AS WHEN WE ARRIVED AT 7.30PM THE PLACE WAS ALMOST FULL.AND BUZZING WE WENT FOR THE 2 COURSE MEAL DEAL -EVERYTHING THAT CAME WAS REALLY TASTY AND WELL COOKED I OBSERVED OTHER PEOPLES MEALS THAT LOOKED SUPER. WILL BE GOING AGAIN -BRILL PLACE
The food was lovely could not fault it whatsoever, also the waiting staff could not have been more helpful. However I think it was the owner we spoke to one arrival and he had no idea what I was talking about when I said I had a reservation that I had booked on line, so they did not have a record of it. Luckily there was not a problem getting a table as it was an early booking. The person we spoke to on arrival at the Forge needs some training on customer service as his attitude was condescending to say the least.
We visited Forge Brasserie on thursday evening and I had a wonderful monk fish with Parma ham while my wife had a trio of fish and a very nice Chardonnay with the meal . The surprise was that we got 30% off all fish meals as Thursday nights offer.
Quaint little restaurant also tables upstairs, staff are lovely, nice easy going atmosphere. I ordered chicken skewers for starters they was very tasty but hardly anything there , husband got the fish cakes they was a substantial portion. Mains was lamb shank and chicken supreme both were OK next time I would try the steak , also I thought the sides was a little over priced £2.50 each for tiny portion so the bill quickly adds up. I finished with a brandy Alexandra cocktail but was disappointed not really a cocktail no nice glass ect . Having said all that I would recommend ,nice restaurant, nice staff tasty food .
