About Forge Brasserie

Southport’s town centre has a number of fine eateries to choose from, but if you’re looking for a catch-all restaurant look no further than Forge Brasserie, tucked down Queen Anne Street, just off Eastbank and not far from the central station. Special lunch, early evening, and Monday surf and turf menus bracket a comprehensive a la carte menu and wine list of a highly international character. Forge Brasserie is perhaps best known for its fresh seafood, with mussels, scallops, breaded whitebait, and oak smoked salmon cornets filled with Norwegian prawns being highlights – and that’s just for starters. Choose cod, haddock, sea bass or lemon sole and your choice of sauces – white wine, Mornay, bonne femme, San Remo or Provencal. If you’re looking for luxury the lobster at market price comes highly recommended.

Party of 6 and all our meals were just perfect. An Extensive menu choice including very reasonably priced 2 or 3 course specials of the day. The service was good as always.

The food was absolutely gorgeous. We had scallops to start and then rump steak. We really enjoyed our experience and are looking forward to going again.

Thursday night is fish night with 30% reduction on an impressive range of seafood dishes. I had a beautiful piece of monkfish and my friend had a seafood platter with a wide range of ingredients including oysters, salmon and absolutely fabulous mussels in a wine and cream sauce. Al dente vegatables and new potatoes were the perfect accompaniment. It was very busy at 9pm so I recommend you book in advance.

Forge Brasserie is a hidden gem, off the beaten track. Succulent steaks, fabulous "specials" and delicious desserts. Meat Night on a Tuesday offers 20% off the prices of the steaks. There is a similar "Fish Night" on Thursdays. Knowledgeable, attentive staff and attractive surroundings make the Forge a pleasant venue for a quiet meal for two or a larger party.

arrived early for our reservation but were made very welcome and promptly given menus together with full explanation of the day's special offers. Being Thursday, it was a "Fish Day" which delighted us as we are both fish lovers. My wife ordered Lemon Sole, off the bone, whilst I ordered Sea Bass, on the bone. Unfortunately, we had to complain about the sole, but we were immediately offered an alternative, and my wife opted for Hake which was superb. My Sea Bass was also excellent. Having visited this restaurant on a number of occasions, this was the first time we have found any reason to make a complaint and we were very impressed by the manner in which it was dealt with. So much that we made a reservation for a repeat visit with a party of friends.

The food was lovely could not fault it whatsoever, also the waiting staff could not have been more helpful. However I think it was the owner we spoke to one arrival and he had no idea what I was talking about when I said I had a reservation that I had booked on line, so they did not have a record of it. Luckily there was not a problem getting a table as it was an early booking. The person we spoke to on arrival at the Forge needs some training on customer service as his attitude was condescending to say the least.

We visited Forge Brasserie on thursday evening and I had a wonderful monk fish with Parma ham while my wife had a trio of fish and a very nice Chardonnay with the meal . The surprise was that we got 30% off all fish meals as Thursday nights offer.

Quaint little restaurant also tables upstairs, staff are lovely, nice easy going atmosphere. I ordered chicken skewers for starters they was very tasty but hardly anything there , husband got the fish cakes they was a substantial portion. Mains was lamb shank and chicken supreme both were OK next time I would try the steak , also I thought the sides was a little over priced £2.50 each for tiny portion so the bill quickly adds up. I finished with a brandy Alexandra cocktail but was disappointed not really a cocktail no nice glass ect . Having said all that I would recommend ,nice restaurant, nice staff tasty food .

My wife and I still enjoy visiting the Forge Brasserie when we are staying in Southport, which we have for a number of years now. Although the fish choices have been reduced quite a lot from what used to be on the menu.
