About Deathrow Diner
There are a few things you think of when you think of America: the Wild West, the New York skyline, the glitz and glamour of Los Angeles...morbid obesity, Donald Trump, huge incarceration rates...it’s a mixed bag. While Deathrow Diner might sound like it harks towards the latter three options, in fact it leans towards the former, with a menu that brings the very best of modern American cooking to the streets of Liverpool, from burgers and barbecue to wings and ribs and plenty more besides. Throw in a fair few drinks options – cocktails, beers, speciality soft drinks and milkshakes – and an ambience that recalls all of the gin joints in all the towns in all the world. Walk into theirs by wandering over to Hope Street in the Georgian Quarter for an American restaurant in Liverpool that is well worth a slice of your time. Book now.

If you’re into American things, then you need to get yourself over to Liverpool’s Georgian Quarter. While the Georgian period was more typically associated with shooting Americans in a series of colonial wars, relations have improved somewhat in the intervening 200 or so years, allowing our revolutionary Puritan offshoots to reestablish themselves in the Motherland, going so far as to open restaurants in the heart of Liverpool city centre. Deathrow Diner bring the best in American cuisine to Hope Street, with a menu that features all the finest food from the land of the free and the home of the brave to the city of the Beatles and other, less good bands.
The culinary exports of America are manifold, and you can get a taste of them all at Deathrow Diner. Begin your Freedom Feast with a corn dog, maple popcorn chicken, mac and cheese bites or barbecue burnt ends, before moving onto a sharing platter of nachos, wings or ribs. The mains include burgers – of course – that can include everything from beef patties and the classic toppings of cheese, bacon and mustard to move outlandish fillings such as deep fried egg, coconut curry and tobacco onions. There’s plenty of meat to be found too, and whether you’re into steaks (they have 10oz ribeye or American strip) or chicken then you’re in for a treat. Do remember to book a table, however, as these are some of the best burgers in Liverpool, among their other delicacies, so Deathrow Diner can get crowded on occasion. Food was great and returant was very different and fun, the staff were all really nice and we didnt have to wait ling for our food at all.
Great restaurant, really good quality food. Excellent service provided by the staff. My Kids really enjoyed the new children's menu. I Will 100% return very soon.
The food was fantastic, plenty of choice and the staff were extremely helpful, would defiantly recommend to friends and family and will be coming back again soon
First visit to Death Row Diner and won't be my last. Great setting. Superb food. Very friendly staff. Top drawer pints of Red Stripe lager. Highly recommended.
This is one of those rare places that gets dining out right. Starting at street level, you're drawn down to a mysterious low-lit basement where you are greeted by an attentive water or waitress. On less busy evenings you're given the choice of choosing where to sit (the rearmost centre is a favourite of mine). The attentiveness continues as you're asked if you're ready to choose a drink from the menu, or if you'd prefer have a few minutes to study the assortment of soft and hard drinks on offer. The food offering is exemplary, spanning from lighter bites (deep fried lasagne bites are a firm favourite of mine) to more hearty dishes such as mouthwatering burgers, steaks and chicken. If you're in the Hope Street area of Liverpool I'd highly recommended visiting Death Row Diner for top class food, not to mention the story that Death Row Diner is themed on.
I turned up.. starvin !!! The staff were really nice, helpful 10/10. Burnt brisket for starter with a half rack of ribs.VERY NICE... Smoke me burger(xtra bacon) & fries... for main... OMG. AMAZIN.... BEST BURGER IVE EVER HAD... EVER !!! & i know me burgers !!! Also it stayed in 1 piece, no burger slip or nottin... Swilled down with a shake... JESUS TONITE...wow.... cudnt do a desert, properly stuffed.... infact, couldnt do anythink all night.... will deffinately go back again.... Deffo.....
My daughter said her burger (double patty burger with cheese and bacon) and fries were lovely. I opted for the buttermilk chicken burger and sweet potato fries. The burger wasn't quite what I was expecting, I thought I would be getting a chicken breast fillet but there were about 5 or 6 small fillets, deep fried in breadcrumbs. They were a little tough and it was awkward to eat but nice, as were the sweet potato fries. Good size portions. A little too dark and cage-like for my liking but good music and nice staff.
We had a fab evening at DRD. Lovely, friendly staff with great banter, the food was extremely filling and tasted amazing, and the atmosphere was very relaxed and welcoming. Overall top place to eat, we would recommend it to everyone, and will certainly be paying them another visit very soon😊. Thanks for making my daughters 25th birthday celebratory meal a great one. Jennifer
Fantastic meal at Death Row Diner for my birthday. We particularly enjoyed the lasagne bites, burnt ends and bacon onion rings for starters. I had a chilli dog with pulled pork fries for main, which was delicious, but I was still eyeing my friend's Rancheros Bastardos burger somewhat jealously! Excellent cocktails as well. Everyone in the party was really impressed with out experience and I think we'll all be paying another visit soon!
Lovely tasty food, generous portions and friendly service. I had the bacon double cheese burger which was good and the pastrami fries which were amazing. I will be ordering the fries next time i go, i loved them. My friend had the milkshake which was a meal in itself but apparently delicious. Would definetly return and would highly recommend.
We really love this restaurant, and enjoyed the new menu as much as the old one. The Katsu chicken was delicious. The service wasn't brilliant this time. It was friendly just a bit slow, but I think they were a little understaffed. I also think they should bring back the Sundae with the deep fried Oreos ;) They've come back with a better selection of beers in my opinion.
Good food, not as busy on a saturday night as I thought it would be. Closes around 10 so not a place you can stay and have a few. We did have a billing issue but was quickly sorted. Be aware that this is one of those places that put a service charge on your bill without asking. The friendly staff would have gotten a tip from us but making a mandatory service charge is not favourable.
Went to the DRD for the first time on valentines day, the place has a fantastic atmosphere however due to it being valentines day they only had the valentines menu on which was good but i couldn't get what i wanted from the main menu which would've led to me giving full marks i'm sure. Awesome cocktails and really good food.
Fabulous service by friendly happy staff. Food was quick to arrive and hot, steak cooked perfect and popcorn chicken and burgers were absolutely delicious. Staff were attentive ensuring our drinks never empty and food to our standard. Overall a fantastic meal for myself and family of 5. Definitely return again.
Excellent. Food really tasty and service excellent. Best burgers I've ever had. Lots of unusual combinations on the menu and I'd recommend the sweet potatoe fries. Make sure you have a big appetite as veri filling food. My lad hasn't stopped talking about the strawberry milk shake.
Nice clean Pleasant restaurant. Very friendly and helpful staff who were knowledgeable on the foods. I had the deep fried lasagna balls which were amazing and recommended by the lovely waitress. The burger was perfect also so good meal had. Chop portions are huge so one portion would be good to share.
Went with my girlfriend and my 9 and 3 year old boys, had a great time. No childrens menu but ordered two sides and two lots of fries which was plenty for the boys. Would recommend death row diner to anyone.
The food was great with a good selection, although they had run out of a few things as it was a busy Saturday night we didn't mind. The staff were friendly and it was very easy to pre-book.
Totally different too our usual dining choice but we had 2 teenage boys to entertain they both loved the milkshakes and the choice of toppings for the burgers and fries. Overall at very pleasing meal with a cheeky cocktail or two for the adults 👍
Great place, food was amazing and staff were fab. Thank you. My husband had quite a few cocktails 🍹 and he'd his cola lolly from his burger on the way home!!!! Thank you for a great night.
The food is nothing short of exceptional, service amazing and everything else just as perfect. Can't wait to return. Try the pastrami fries and the popcorn chicken, cool atmosphere and the drinks menu is a beast.
Food was fantastic as it always is, service was good but could of been better! A bit too long waiting for drinks really. We will be returning again though as it is excellent value and tastes tremendous - chicken gravy fries in particular!
Food excellent but service awful. Felt like we were invisible. Waited ages to be asked about a desert and then never came back to place an order for them so then we just asked for the bill and left. First waitress who brought us in took the orders and then never seen us again so felt like we just got left when everyone else looked to be getting great service.
Excellent food. A few things not available like draught beer. Could do with a bit more prison type paraphernalia, pics of convicts etc. Love the silver tray idea but a prison type tray would be awesome. Will be coming again. X
Lively atmosphere, we took our 2 kids 4 and 7 they really enjoyed their food, staff where fantastic and super friendly. Burgers where juicy and flavoursome. Best burger joint in town 10/10 from us.
Great food and drinks - the wrong food did some out which caused a bit of a delay. The staff did take it back just lacked any kind of apology. Atmosphere was ace though and the concept is really fun!
Visited on a Sunday lunch enjoyed our time here had the chicken b bucket it was a lot for me but took a doggy bag home service was good an the food was hot which I like would visit again
Excellent food and service - try the mac&cheese bites, you won't be disappointed! Already planning to go back and try something different - I had a halloumi burger and that was awesome.
Amazing food and reasonably priced. We picked lots of things to share. The deep fried Mac and cheese is amazing and the burnt ends were great too. We will definitely come back.
Lovely food and atmosphere. Could only say that alcohol was a bit expensive for what you got but other than that would highly recommend, have already told all my friends :)
really interesting, and slightly unusual venue, themed around American prisons death row. Despite the down beat theme the staff were really friendly and the food was extremely tasty! Will be returning!
I do like the food and the decor, but the staff are like robots, not very friendly and we have never got our drinks before our meals. We always have to ask where our drinks are! That's the only thing I feel needs to be improved.
The food was absolutely delicious and the atmosphere super friendly. Felt really welcome. The food portions are great for the price, and it would be very difficult to leave hungry!
Served really quickly. Food was delicious! We had the salt and pepper chicken wings, half rack of ribs with teriyaki sauce and more ribs with hot sauce. The fries and sweet potato fries were lovely too.
For a Saturday night it was terribly understaffed, 2 floor staff and a manager. There appeared to be 2 kitchen staff and a KP We booked a table, had to wait 30 minutes at the bar - we were a table of 4. Another group had booked for 8.30 - had to wait, got free drinks, we did not. After being seated we waited 45 minutes for someone to even take a drink order, we nearly walked. Several tables around us walked out without even having their stater. 1 group of 4 had waited an hour for starters, the table next to us waited 75 minutes for starters then their starters and mains came all together. By the time our food came it was a very empty place. We then waited 30 mins after starter cleared for mains. Asked for the bill, no sorry about the whole experience . Food was not as good as previous visits either. Not great at all. Put me off coming back again. We travelled from Chester for this awful experience
Great food and cool concept. Definitely can recommend the popcorn chicken starter. Quirky and tasty. Desserts are worth saving room for as well. Or a reason for another visit!
Great food and drinks. Decor and theme really good too and staff very attentive, friendly and helpful. Great place, can't recommend this place enough. Will be back soon 👍🏻👍🏻
Good food and really good service not too pushy but always on hand The Price of food was great compared to quality of food really enjoyed whole thing
This is a really cool place - loved the setting! The food was yummy and really big portions. A great selection of cocktails. The staff were really friendly.
Lasagne bites are genius. Putting a 4Oz steak in a double cheese burger with peppercorn sauce is genius. Great food. Great service. Gravy chips. What's more to want?
The staff served us really quickly and the food was delicious! The surroundings of the restaurant were really nice too and there was a good atmosphere. Would definitely recommend to friends and family.
Had a great time at DRD for our works night out on friday. Food was incredible. The Nicest place I've been in years. Highly recommend. Cheers guys
Fantastic experience with most friendly and helpful staff. Would go back again in a heart beat. Food and service excellent. My my sons 21st birthday extra special.
Delicious food and the best service in Liverpool! Would definitely come back again, cannot fault any of the experience both my partner and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Lovely food attentive staff not fussed on the tin foil plates and the toilets need cleaning a bit on the pricey side for what we got as chips not included with burger
Unlike some reports service was prompt and efficient. Atmosphere quirky. Food good. Well placed for a visit to the Phil. or Everyman. Would go back again.
The food was Excellent and the was lovely staff quality tunes and a great atmosphere deffo going back on my next trip over really enjoyed it
Top notch. Food was very nice and service was fast and good atmosphere. We had a mixture of mainly starters. Lasagne bites are fantastic. Would recommend.
Friendly staff, brilliant food and fun cocktails. Definitely worth a visit and a revisit, I will certainly be returning again and again, thank you very much
Lovely food and great cocktail menu. Would return again to sample more of the cocktails and the yummy food! Staff were friendly and service was quick.
