If you told anybody who knew The Ice Cream Shack at Bukit Merah Central that it has disappeared, and an even better one has taken its place, they may not believe you. That is exactly what has happened with Dandelion. The Ice Cream Shack became a Tiong Bahru institution thanks to their reliably delicious, hand-made gelato, but the evolved version, Dandelion, has taken things even further. Still churning out that same artisan, low-fat and low-sugar gelato (including their famous dark chocolate sorbet), Dandelion have expanded their menu to include superb cafe and bistro meals – banana crumble or charcoal waffle, salted egg yolk fried chicken waffle, Swiss rosti with sausage and salad, anyone? Dandelion have awesome coffee, too, and the impressive renovation also included their colourful Bukit Merah venue. They have always been one of Singapore’s best dessert cafes, but Dandelion have quickly become major players on the brunch and lunch scene in Singapore – bookings are strongly advised.
