Everybody loves barbecue, and there’s really nothing better than the Korean variety. At Chang Korean BBQ, they’re blending the best of traditional and modern dishes to offer a well-rounded and authentic representation of this beloved East Asian cuisine. Located on Dempsey’s Loewen Road, this high-end Korean restaurant offers a gorgeous setting that’s unmatched in terms of its natural beauty and gorgeous secluded setting. From traditional dishes like the danhobak haemul jjim (spicy seafood stew in pumpkin), the gyeja nangchae (grilled vegetables and beef with a mustard sauce) and the galbi jjim (short rib stew) to more modern dishes like charcoal-grilled beef, pork or chicken, the restaurant offers something for all tastes. Owing to its popularity, booking is essential for this sophisticated Korean restaurant in Dempsey.
Dear diners, please note that the restaurant can only hold reservations for 15 minutes.
atmosphere was nice and their service is awesome! we ordered one noodle for side dish and they split into two bowl for us haha and another good thing of dempsey is free parking
We had the lunch set and it was a lot of food for the amount that we paid even though it wasn't a buffet. The quality of the food was good and the staff was very attentive and helpful. The restaurant is also located in a quiet but charming part of the Dempsey / Loewen area. We would definitely go back!
More veg food would be nice though. One of the people in our party was vegetarian and even the kimchi had some no veg paste in it. The non veg food was excellent.
We had different types of beef and pork, and I have to say that this is one of Korean BBQ restaurant for freshest meat! We will definitely be back for more!
We have always enjoyed our charcoal BBQ experience at Chang's. Visiting again after a hiatus of a few years was like returning to a familiar place - the quality of the food and the helpful service remained the same. Ordering for a large family dinner had its own challenges, which the manageress helped to solve with her practical advice. The marinated chicken thighs and pork ribs were a hit with our family, and the younger member loved the grilled vegetable choices, especially the variety of mushrooms. And the complimentary pumpkin juice at the end of dinner was much appreciated.
Loved the ambience of the place, sufficient lighting and well spaced seating. Even though it is a BBQ space, there was hardly any smoke and it is very well ventilated. Food was amazing and well worth what you are paying for. Even the side dishes were tasty and I requested second helpings of the kimchi and jellyfish. The meat was cooked to medium as per our request and it was tender and delicious. We will definitely come back again and the next time we will bring more friends along.
The food is great. Perhaps it was crowded, service is a little wanting. I had to ask for the bill twice to find out that the first request has been ignored. The server was anxious to get done with the BBQ so much so that all meat was cooked at the same time. Half way through the meal, the meat turned cold. It would have been better if the server had paced the cooking.
Excellent food, very good service. We loved the meat, the appetizers, the rice cake soup, and the rice. The staff were prompt, gave good advice on the food and were courteous. The only downside was the atmosphere in the back section of the restaurant feels like you are in the kitchen, with the kitchen visible behind the curtain. I would recommend sitting in front or outside on the patio.
Nice dinning environment and the staff were friendly. Food price on the high side and some items we ordered were not so good, like the rice cake and the seafood pancake. As it was our first time, we did not know the portion of the items, so we ordered too many items, but the waiter did not have advised us. The toilet is pleasant and impressive though.
Quiet environment, good food. Decent quality and certainly worth revisiting Chang again. We went together with the misses and she enjoyed it very much as well. Worth the try. We went there during lunch so it wasn't crowded at all. Down side is that it is very inaccessible, by car or taxi.
