What began as three friends with a love of vintage furniture and delicious cakes and treats, has now turned into one of the most popular cafe spots in Bukit Timah. Carpenter and Cook is an artisan bakery and vintage homeware store, where you can browse its eclectic range of signature pieces while you relax and in its vibrant and quirky cafe, indulging in a freshly baked cake, pastry or gourmet sandwich alongside a calming tea or fresh cup of coffee. These Singapore artists certainly know what they’re doing, and you can find them on Lorong Kilat, near Beauty World MRT.
Carpenter and Cook is the result of Phoebe (Carpenter) who has a passion for fashion and textiles, Eunice (and) who dabbles in a bit of everything, and Shenn (Cook) who is a Cordon Bleu-trained chef, who all together have a passion for artisan baking and quality vintage furniture pieces. This kitsch cafe is becoming one of the most popular in Bukit Timah, with people from all over Singapore making their way to sample the tasty treats and browse the signature pieces the girls conjure up.
If you’re making your way to Carpenter and Cook to eat, we recommend starting out with something savoury to begin, like the ham and cheese croissant . Following on with Carpenter and Cook’s signature desserts ranging from cakes, tarts, brownies and biscuits. You’ll find Carpenter and Cook in Singapore’s Bukit Timah district, along Lorong Kilat where there eclectic space and tasty cakes will be waiting for you!
Love the atmosphere! Their strawberry shortcake was one of the best i've had! And the staff was very friendly. I will definitely be coming back again
I love their food, their drinks and as well as their service provided by the friendly staff. Will go back there for more again one day.
Great food and nice ambience to enjoy. Will definitely return.
Food was great! The mini tarts were absolutely delicious! Rustic charm of the little cafe was also interesting. Recommended to make reservation in advance, as they have small sitting space.
Nice ambience and good food. I had chosen the ham sandwich set that came with free mini tart and coffee. The bread was interesting. Had added a sausage which turned out to be what I believed was British bangles which I personally would have preferred either Vienna or the German sausages. Was not too impressed by the coffee but the overall setting was really comfortable giving a big plus.
Food is great. Pulled pork sandwich is unique. Club sandwich is lovely. Service can be abit slow when crowded but staff are nice. Their points rewards system does get you 5% or 10% off but requires the download of an app that's data intensive and invasive. Would be nice if the points and rewards can be simplified.
Tea time set meal was value for money. A loaf, 2 tarts and 2 drinks. Services was prompt and helpful. Overall a good experience. Must go :)
So-so, nothing much to eat at the end of the day already. Went at 6:15pm, only sad portions of salad, a few cakes, few pastries left. Just good for lunch, brunch or teatime.
The environment is a noisy and not suitable for chatting with friends. It would be good if the food could be served and payment made immediately once the food is served. This is my 2 cents worth of suggestion i.e. to serve some finger food and light refreshments.
Nth was served for dinner except pastry at this outlet. Probably should indicate and alert consumer before we make booking. Not very nice to not serve mains for dinner
